Mansour Modern Rugs

Mansour has been the world's best source for antique rugs and tapestries for some time now. In fact, it has earned a Royal Warrant by the Prince of Wales whose palaces are outfitted with numerous items from the Mansour showrooms in London and Los Angeles. It seems that Mansour has decided to branch out and offer a line of products that were made in the current century. Mansour Modern is a collection of artistic carpets that can be customized to suit different decors and lifestyles. And what better place to look at couture carpets than on Melrose Ave in Los Angeles. It's like Fred Segal for your house.

Richard Modern Birdhouse

This modern birdhouse is certainly a cut or two above the plywood, shop-class construction that has been attracting birds to the back corners of thousands of yards across the country for at least the last half century. The Richard Birdhouse is made out of sustainably harvested teak and is finished with a protective oil that will keep it looking pristine in any weather. The floating roof - which is actually attached with metal dowels - is a 1/4-inch thick aluminum plate. Most small birds can fit through the front entrance hole, but tossing a handful or two of seed inside to encourage them certainly couldn't hurt. Price: $195.

Flap

Behold the Flap. This unique piece of furniture is part sofa, part chair. It has an upholstered base with parts that tilt up at angles to become backs and rests. The frame is tubular metal and the moveable parts can each recline at six different angles. The Flap can be made in a variety of fabrics and leathers. Designed by Francesco Binfare, the Flap in white leather can be found at Moss Online for $17,865.

Anemone Table

Jill over at Inhabitat pointed us in the direction of the Anemone furniture from GNR8. Does lace belong with sand-blasted glass and powder-coasted metal. Surprisingly, yes. The Anemone table makes decent modern work out of the old tradition of a frilly lace tablerunner. The lace casts beautiful patterns on the walls and floors and, in this incarnation, sheds its dowdy reputation. The table sells for $1999.
