Luxury Lake Of The Ozarks Homes Set For Auction

Filed under: Estates, Auctions, Real Estate Developments

lake of the ozarks auction
The Lake of the Ozarks area is a popular place for second homes but some of the most luxurious homes in the region will be going up for auction soon. On July 18, Cates Auction and Realty is holding an auction of vacation homes that have original prices ranging from $1.2 – 3.7 million. As a story in the Kansas City Star reports that some of these homes were on on the market for a while.

In fact around 100 houses valued at $1 million or more in the Lake of the Ozarks area are for sale which is a very high number given the current economy. Some were spec houses created for buyers that never arrived, other homes were built for those planning retirement who have now opted to stay in the work force and some are owned by people who just no longer want to carry the burden of more than one mortgage.

The minimum prices for the properties haven't been listed but you can check out the offerings on the Cates Auction and Realty website. The most lavish home is the four-story waterfront property shown above which has an elevator, pool and five bedroom suites.

The Private Residences at Chase Park Plaza

St. Louis seems ready for its condo boom (or at least the developers think so). A few months ago I mentioned a couple of condo projects in Clayton, Missouri, Now comes news of a lavish project in St. Louis. The Private Residences of Chase Park Plaza will take over 18 floors of the 30-story Park Plaza Tower of The Chase Park Plaza. The 87 residences will include outdoor terraces, private storage, modern furnishings, soundproof walls, access to a lavish health spa and fitness center, dog-walking, concierge and dry cleaning services. Basically the condos are seeking to mimic the big city experience of New York or Chicago. And at some big city prices too. The Private Residences at The Chase Park Plaza will range from 1,020 square feet to 4,217 square feet and list for $395,000 to $5.8 million. The first homes are expected to be ready next summer

Clayton, Missouri Plans Major Condo Projects

Clayton, Missouri, which is part of the greater St. Louis metropolitan area is becoming a boom town for condo projects. Two of the top projects include The Crescent and Trianon. Trianon is a $150 million mixed-use project that will include a 26-story tower and two midrise residential buildings. The development will also be home to retail and office space. The condos in the Trianon will range in size from 900 square feet to 2,200 square feet cost from $350,000 to $1 million.

The Crescent is a $73 million nine-story development located across from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. It will include 72 condos and 26,000 square feet of retail space and the remaining residential units are priced between $900,000 and $2 million. Restaurants and retail are moving in and the first residential units are set to be ready later this year. The developer behind the project is also creating Carondelet Village which will be home to 100,000 square feet of retail space, 100,000 square feet of office space and a a 125-room boutique hotel. Carondelet Village is planning a 2010 opening.

It's an ambitious plan. As Spectacular Bid mentioned when we discussed an estate of the day in St. Louis, the area has struggled in regards to real estate prices. In most markets, condos are priced lower than single family homes but the high-end condos in Clayton are positioned fairly close to the top of the overall housing market.

Osage Beach, Estate of the Day

I got curious about Osage Beach, Missouri after hearing of a new massive hotel that is going up in the area so I decided to find the most luxurious estate in the area. A quick search brought me to this home. it is located on the water and has 12,000 square feet of space including seven bedrooms and a huge two-story living room with a balcony. The design sins are too numerous too mention, it looks like they were going for a hacienda look but there are also ski house style elements. It does deserve some charm points for the breezeway bar and grill with the patterned tin ceiling. There is also an inground pool facing the lake with an outdoor fireplace. The home is listed at $4.99 million. After the jump, three ktichens, no waiting for a snack.

Lake of the Ozarks To Get A Chateau

Osage Beach, Missouri is about to get a large new hotel that may bring more tourism to the Lake of the Ozarks region which is popular in Missouri but not well known to those outside the region. The Chateau on the Lake of the Ozarks will take over a 30-acre waterfront location near the Grand Glaize Bridge. The 15-story hotel will have 320 rooms and suites and a spa. Construction should begin in spring 2008 and the hotel is set to open in 2010. The hotel is the 14th property in Missouri for John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts. The design of the hotel is inspired by Hammons' study of chateaus and castles around the world.

Lake Winnebago Home, Estate of the Day

Just because you don't live in an area with a nearby ocean doesn't mean you can enjoy the refreshment of water. This newer home is located on Lake Winnebago in Missouri. The home is full of luxurious details like Venetian plaster walls & ceilings, heated tumbled marble floors, granite countertops, limestone decking and wrought iron balusters. The home has a bit of a schizophrenic design sense vacillating between formal areas with a faux-French feel and casual areas for laying around. The home is listed at $3 million. Interior shots after the jump.
