Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder BagThe Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder Bag is a shiny, special bag for a to be seen.

At first, it's hard to tell from the photo what size a bag like this would be. It's actually rather large, at 19"W X 14"H X 4"D, so take note, this is an exceptional attention-grabber. We're not sure why Louboutin decided to call this the "Lolita" bag; if we saw a child with this bag, we'd roll our eyes. It would require a woman of extraordinary style to carry this with class.

In case you think you may be that woman, here are some additional details: Those are double 7" drop goldtone chain straps, and the bag is lined with red satin and includes a small mini-wallet in the same copper-mirror-effect material. While some might attempt to wear this with a casual outfit to downplay its extravagance, we think that might be a mistake. This is a completely fabulous bag, and we'd like to see it with a completely fabulous ensemble (or even a power suit?) on a completely fabulous person. A mirror-effect like this can sometimes look cheap, but trust us, it doesn't when Louboutin does it.

The Christian Louboutin Lolita Mirror Shoulder Bag is available from Saks Fifth Avenue for $995.00.

Alchemy Full Moon Mirrors

Bathroom lighting is a delicate thing because you want to be able see clearly while washing your face or tweezing something, but you also want to avoid that bright, cold atmosphere that can happen so easily in a small room full of porcelain and tile. I'm not sure that these illuminated mirrors from Alchemy are the answer to that dilemma for everyone, but if you have the right room and decor scheme these Full Moon Mirrors could provide just the right balance of light and luxe interest to your bathroom.

They have several designs available, including pure gold and platinum versions. Pricing upon request.

Droolworthy Mirrors from Horchow

Silver I love mirrors. In the practice of Feng Shui, they recommend placing a mirror across from a room's entrance. I like that, because it makes the room appear larger and lets me know right away if I need to fix something about my appearance -- and more importantly, if I don't need to fix anything. It relaxes me.

Mirrors are excellent for distributing light in any space, and a beautiful, well-kept (dusted and clear) mirror is a gorgeous addition to any room.

For awhile, my roommate and I were looking for a large mirror for above our couch. When we couldn't find one we liked (they all had such wretched frames), we decided to instead make a collage of smaller mirrors, each with their own unique frames. The effect is very elegant.

Here are some droolworthy mirrors from Horchow. If these are out of your price range, I recommend checking the local thrift store for interesting mirrors!

Mirrored Furniture from Horchow

Horchow Nothing brightens up a room like a mirror. It distributes light and creates the illusion of more space. In Feng Shui, it is recommended to hang a mirror opposite the door of a room (harmony or vanity, the world may never know).

One way to take even greater advantage of the reflective benefits of mirrors is to incorporate mirrored furniture. Nothing looks cleaner than a perfect mirrored panel, and nothing sparkles day and night with such pristine glamour.

Horchow currently has an excellent selection of mirrored furniture, for example the "Autumn" mirrored chest at right. As you can see, the mirrors make the decorated chest a standout piece of furniture, and special enough to give as a gift. See the gallery for more items, and pick up a pair of vintage gloves from Vintage Hat Box to avoid smudging.

Belvedere Italy Mirror

Ever wanted to travel to Italy but didn't have the time or money to go? Well, here's your opportunity to bring Italy to you instead. Designer James Irvine has minimally, yet exquisitely, showcased the boot shaped county of Italy in a gorgeous mirror. Made of methacrylate with an expanded PVC support, this showpiece will be the topic of conversation for whoever enters your home. Of course the beauty of Belvedere Italy Mirror could never match or surpass the experience of Italy, but it sure looks amazing. Dimensions: 42" x 35" x 0.5". Price: $720.

Mirror Collage Plasma TV Cabinet

Some plasma televisions are works of art in and of themselves and to hide them would be a shame. But most aren't so fabulous and are better kept out of sight when not in use. There are lots of clever ways to conceal a flat-screen television - I've seen them behind panels, paintings and drapes as well as inside pop-up entertainment centers. But as far as a remedy to the unsightly black hole of the television, this one gets points for creativity. Wood-framed beveled mirrors of different sizes overlap in an artful arrangement that not only hides your flat-screen television, but adds light and space to your room. The overall dimensions are 71"W x 11"D x 51" and the cabinet will accommodate most 50" plasma televisions. $4649.

Handmade Painted Driftwood Mirror

The name of this piece alone was enough to catch my attention, as I used to live near the ocean when I was younger spending many hours finding little bits of driftwood beaten by the waves on the beach. But although it's not a complete loss, I was a little disappointed with the painted and artificial look of this Handmade Painted Driftwood Mirror. The driftwood idea is awesome, and maybe the picture just isn't doing it justice, but I think a lot of the character and the effort they spent hand selecting pieces is lost under the layers of paint.

They do, however, take special orders so I'm wondering if they'd be willing to leave the paint off? Or maybe that's just me. The standard size measures about 48H X 36H and goes for $2395.

Pirouette Mirror

The paneled Pirouette Mirror is made up of a series of seven rotating pillars set into a 3.25" deep black wood frame. Each of the pillars is a triangular column that can be turned to reveal one of three designs on each face: rococo pattern etched mirror surface, a plain mirror surface and a black wood veneered surface. The patterns can be mixed and matched according to your mood (black wood on a bad hair day) or simply to give yourself something different to look at each day. The mirror was designed by Matt Carr and was produced in a limited edition of 100. It measures 29" x 24" x 3.25". Price: $700.

Konka Magic Mirror / LCD TV

This leopard-printed gadget from Konka may have an interesting frame, but it has an even more interesting function. Dubbed the "Magic Mirror," it is a wall-mounted LCD TV that has a camera built into the top frame. When the TV is not in use, the camera "reflects" a view of the room onto the screen. Because the frame is vertically oriented, it seems like you might get some distortion (to say the least) if you actually want to watch TV, but the concept certainly is interesting. There is no price yet on the "mirror," but hopefully they'll come up with some new frame options when it is released in case leopard doesn't match the color scheme of potential customers' homes.

Mirror Op-Art

A funky, fun piece of decor, Mirror Op-Art is a construction that uses dozens of differently sized circular mirrors that can be arranged in almost any way you see fit. All of the mirrors are clustered together, but each is attached to a white, movable wire and can be tilted and turned to catch the light in interesting ways. You can set up the piece in one location, leaving it to catch colors and light of the same thing every day, or change it frequently for a new perspective. You can also group more than one piece together (they are only 25" in diameter) for a larger, full-wall display. Price: $190.

Taffy Mirror

Occasionally, wall art does more than just look good. It can carry a message or even seem to come live, as does the Taffy Mirror from designer David Hurwitz. The mirror is carved and sculpted from natural cherry wood, painted on one side and enriched with a hand-applied Danish oil and varnish finish on the other. It has a distinct flow about it, almost as though whatever is reflected in the mirror is coming towards you and into the room. It would work well in a living room or entryway, as well as in a child's room, where the bright color would be a lovely focal point. It measures 15"H x 12"W x 2"D. Price: $1200.

Faux Bois Mirror

Today is a day of wooden things and wood-inspired things, like this Faux Bois Mirror ("fake wood"). The mirror is not actually made of wood, though the natural-looking grains in the frame could certainly cause someone casually glancing at the mirror to do a double-take, just to be sure. It can be hung vertically or horizontally to complement the room, and with its gorgeous silver frame, it will fit in just about anywhere. Price: $1,395.

Who's The Fairest Mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest one of all? This fantasy Who's The Fairest Mirror may not deliver the answers that were being sought by Snow White's evil stepmother, but it certainly would make a fairy tale seem to come to life if used as a vanity mirror on top of a dresser or in a child's room. The frame, made to look like it has been formed from slender tree branches, is made of brass and it measures 14-in high and 9-in in diameter. Price: $148.

Look at Me Mirror

The Pesce Limited Edition Look at Me Mirror certainly does draw the eye. The colorful piece almost resembles a face in a Picasso painting, though the slightly impish smile on the bright face gives the impression that the mirror would bring simples to those who gaze at it, rather than contemplation. It is made from a flexible resin, with three inset mirrors. Each piece is unique, so the final design may vary slightly. Price: $2,750.
