Mulvany & Rogers Miniatures

If you like intricate, ornate decor on a tiny scale you'll be impressed by the miniature architectural marvels by Mulvany & Rogers. Taking historically significant European and North American buildings and their interiors and re-creating them at one-twelfth of their size these little wonders include Hampton Court, Versailles and Buckingham Palace. They even recently sold a miniature version of Harry Potter's Hogwarts! Their online store currently has two pieces for sale: Gothik House and Georgian Rectory for £10,000 and £9,000 respectively which gives you just a taste of their creative abilities. The gallery shows a variety of pieces so luxuriously crafted it is hard to imagine you can't walk into them.

Feel Like Godzilla in Your Own Home

Okay, I'm not going to say these creations have no place anywhere, but I'm certainly going to say (in between fits of laughter) that appropriate placements for these Furniture Follies pieces are certainly limited! The idea is to have furniture in your home that is functional (storage chests, cupboards, TV cabinets...) yet interesting because it's all shaped like miniature buildings. And besides what you see here the creators are willing to work with you to create a bespoke piece just for you.

With this in my house I would totally feel like Godzilla, or King Kong, or somebody huge and I don't think I'd like it. But I could see these in a children's room maybe, that could be fun. Priced around £4500, depending.

Saigon Dog Day Bed

Miniature versions of things are often very cute, so it's not a shock when people ohh and ahh over animals. Small size and human-like qualities , combined with dashing good looks, makes pets all the more endearing. This may be part of the reason that pets are often considered to be part of the family, and family members need to me taken care of. Would you make a family member sleep on a pillow in the corner? I think not. A small, cute family member needs a small, cute bed. Dog beds are not only designed to be comfortable for your pet, but to match the decor in your home. This Saigon Day Bed is the perfect example. It comes in hardwood espresso and cherry finishes and is elegant enough to look good in any home. The removable microsuede pillows (not included) come in 22 different color options. It's is just the right size for small dogs, or even a cat, if you can get him to sit still long enough to enjoy it. Price: $298.
