Mini Houses Go Deluxe
The Wall Street Journal has an interesting article on the luxury playhouses. It's a topic we've hit a bunch of times but the Journal has found some truly amazing stories of deluxe playhouses for the kids. Parents often go for the mini-me effect, creating a tiny version of their house in the back yard for the kiddies. The small versions often include televisions, lighting, heating and refrigerators and can cost upwards of $100,000. Some of the designers of these homes referenced in the article include:Lilliput, a playhouse manufacturer in Finleyville, Pa., that Tudors and Victorians, mini markets and movie theaters and has a great display of custom properties on their website such as the mini village which is at their Cranberry Township, PA store.
La Petite Maison, a Denver-based company that offers deluxe playhouses and dog houses which can cost up to $50,000. They created the home shown at right.
Custom Playhouses based in Forest Lake, Minn., this firm creates adorable Victorians, log cabins, cottages and homes with red tile roofs. They also have a line of custom kid furniture.
Barbara Butler, a San Francisco-based designer, who makes forts, playhouses and tree houses and recently completed a $240,000 project for a Los Angles client.
