Savor Borgata Event

The Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey seeks to draw foodies to the resort with "Savor Borgata", a culinary event that will include a reception with celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Michael Mina, Geoffrey Zakarian, Michael Schulson and Thaddeus DuBois and a five-course meal prepared by all five chefs (each chef is responsible for one course). The event begins with a cocktail reception around The Water Club's indoor pool followed by the five-course meal paired with wines from Robert Sinskey Vineyards. The event costs $235 per person. The hotel is offering the "Savor Borgata" package which includes two tickets to "Savor Borgata" and accommodations at The Water Club in a Club Room. Prices start at $795.

Chef Michael Mina Opens XIV in Los Angeles

In the latest of Sam Nazarian's ventures, acclaimed chef Michael Mina -- whose San Francisco restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars -- will helm a new L.A. chateau-style restaurant called XIV. The name is an attempt to capture the opulence of Louis's bygone days, though the monarchical reference isn't lost on me, nor the exceptionally long reign of influence.

As of today, you can make reservations at the Phillipe Starck-designed home of Modern American cuisine on Sunset Blvd.

MGM Grand Detroit To Get Celebrity Chefs

Is Detroit set to become the new Las Vegas. The MGM Grand Detroit is a new luxury hotel with 335 guest rooms, nine rooftop VIP suites and 56 corner suites. The hotel will have a private entrance, a concierge level with full-service lounge and a Lobby "Living Room" for hotel guests only (shown above. The hotel which is set to open in the fall, has just announced that it will be home to three signature restaurants by two famed chefs. Wolfgang Puck will open the Wolfgang Puck Grill and chef Michael Mina will introduce both Saltwater, a seafood restaurant and Bourbon Steak, a steakhouse. Puck's entrees will also be part of the room-service program. The hotel will also include a piano bar, nightclub and a lavish spa. The MGM Grand Casino in Detroit is already open and is part of a growing hotel and casino complex in the Motor City.
