Will The Lord of the Dance Build in Vegas?
Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels
Las Vegas has a variety of resorts that evoke
other places such as Paris and Venice but is Vegas ready for Ireland? Irish dancer Michael Flatley, the creator of the
Riverdance and Celtic Tiger dance shows wants to create an Irish-themed resort. Page Six reports that the 47-year-old, who is reportedly
worth $700 million will be putting some of his own money on the line. Rumors about Flatley's resort have been floating
around since 2003 when he was rumored to be
working on a $750 million 2,400-room Irish-themed Las Vegas resort and to have been talking to Hugh Hefner
about having Playboy involved. The resort was mentioned again in 2004 during Flatley's appearance on the "Life of
Luxury" television show when Flately showed off designs for a resort called "Irish Empire" which he
said would cost around $900 million. Given the quick rise-and-fall of celeb-backed projects lately, I'll withhold
judgement until this thing actually gets built.
