MGM Launches MLife Rewards Program

MGM Resorts International has launched a new loyalty program, M life, that links together its resorts in Las Vegas, Mississippi and Detroit. Members will enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences exclusive to MGM Resorts as well as insider privileges. It will begin as a casino rewards club and later this year, it will expand into a full loyalty program rewarding spending on hotel stays, shopping, dining and more.

The M life moments being offered include selecting The Fountains of Bellagio songs for a day, enjoying a cameo role in Cirque du Soleil's Viva ELVIS at ARIA Resort & Casino, serving as a guest DJ at one of Vegas' hottest clubs at MGM Grand, becoming a dolphin trainer for a day at The Mirage, cooking lessons with Bravo's Top Chef Masters celebrity chef Rick Moonen at Mandalay Bay, receiving one-on-one dance lessons with world-famous Jabbawockeez at Monte Carlo, and much more. The program will also track consumer preferences to create individualized rewards tailored to your previous choices. For example, if someone attends a Madonna concert, they may receive an offer to Lady Gaga; a George Strait concertgoer may receive an invite to the Country Music Awards at MGM Grand; a fine-dining connoisseur may receive an offer to a private wine dinner.

M life members enjoy privileged access to ARIA, Bellagio, Vdara, MGM Grand, The Signature at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor and Excalibur in Las Vegas; Beau Rivage and Gold Strike in Mississippi; and MGM Grand Detroit. There will be four tier levels: Sapphire, Pearl, Gold and Platinum. New members start at the Sapphire tier and can play their way to higher tiers. As guests graduate to the next level, they unlock even greater rewards. Gold and Platinum members have accelerated point earning for their play, enabling them to earn benefits even faster. The program centers around the M life website that will allow members to view points, credits and offers as well as explore editorial content from M life magazine and M life TV (episode one is shown above).

Signature at the MGM Grand Offers Home Cooking, Vegas Style

Have you ever tried to cook a dish along with the chef on a television show? A new offering at the The Signature at MGM Grand in Las Vegas puts home cooks to the test. The Signature Dish is an in-suite culinary TV program that has guests follow along onscreen and cook in the privacy of their luxury suite. Guests simply tune in to the "Signature Dish" TV program for a step-by-step guide to preparing one of the Signature's dishes: Scallop Risotto, Tandoori Chicken Curry or Baked Ziti. The Signature's one/two-bedroom suites features modern kitchens and the Signature provides all the ingredients to prepare the dish in pre-assembled culinary baskets. The Baked Ziti option includes a recipe card, pasta, marinara sauce, kosher salt, ricotta and mozzarella cheese and costs $55. The 30-minute show is led by the on-screen guidance of Executive Chef Uday Huja and Executive Sous Chef Patrick Hoefler. Personally, I'd rather experience all that Vegas cuisine has to offer (it is an eater's paradise) but this could be fun for those looking to stay in.

The "Signature Dish" package offers suites starting at $174 per night with a two-night minimum stay required available August 4, 2010 – December 31, 2010. The package includes a a complimentary welcome dinner basket, bottle of wine and the baked ziti basket to cook in your own suite while following our chef's on your TV. To book this package, call (877) 727-0007 and mention booking code "SIGDISH" or visit mgmmirage.com.

Banking On The Bellagio Brand

Like many other brands, MGM Mirage has decided to make money by selling its name. The brand, which has been struggling all year, particularly with the battle to get the huge $8.5 billion Las Vegas CityCenter project completed, is in need of some cash. MGM Mirage has inked 10 franchise deals with hotels carrying the Bellagio and MGM Grand name deals that will let the brand expand in a way that it could not on its own seeing as it is already $12 billion in debt.

The deals are a first for MGM Mirage. Two MGM Grand casino resorts are planned for Ho Tram, Vietnam and Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Other plans include Bellagios in Cairo, Mumbai and four in China. Bellagio, MGM Grand and Skyloft hotels will also be franchised in Dubai. These deals will give MGM Mirage two to three percent of gross sales with an additional 10 precent if a property achieves its profit goals. MGM Mirage is hoping that branded resorts will attract visitors even without gambling which means they will have to position themselves as a distinctive hotel brand that doesn't rely on a casino as a main atraction. What MGM Mirage and Bellagio do have that some other hotels don't is experience at maintaining full service complexes with restaurants, nightclubs, shops and entertainment all designed to make the guest so happy that they never want to step outside.

MGM Grand's Packages For Lovers

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Spas

Las Vegas isn't traditionally the home of romance, it's more the home of mirrors on the ceiling and revolving round beds but the MGM Grand has a package for lovers that classes things up a bit. The Maximum Sweethearts package costs $1135 and includes a five-course dinner for two at SEABLUE, a Couples Amazon Rainforest Ritual in the Grand Spa, tickets for two to MGM Grand's Crazy Horse Paris cabaret, line passes to Studio 54 and Tabu and a night in a 694 square foot Celebrity Spa Suite that has an oversized bedroom, wet bar, dining room and whirlpool.

They are also offering a couples spa package called the Red Lotus Love Ritual. The 100-minute treatment takes place in a private spa suite. The ritual begins with a private steam session followed by a gentle skin exfoliation with Himalayan Pink Sea Salt and a healing wrap. This is followed by a chocolate and Goji berry hand and foot mask, a foot massage for her and a scalp massage for him. The treatment ends with a massage featuring Lotus oil infused with the berries of Seabuckthorn plants and a snack of chocolate-covered Goji berries. The Red Lotus Love ritual costs $590 for couples and is available the entire month of February.
