Martin Braun Is Back With New "Antoine Martin" Watch Brand

Martin Braun Is Back With New
Talented watch maker Martin Braun's self-named brand went under as a result of heavy losses in the Franck Muller group. Having left the Franck Muller Group sometime ago, Martin Braun wanted/needed to do something new. Legally speaking, he was not able to use his own name again for the brand because it is owned by the Franck Muller Group. Now with backing from an entrepreneur named Antoine Meier, Braun is back with his new brand called (not very creatively) Antoine Martin. The new brand will focus on making their own movements (as before), but stylistically is said not have any similarities with the original Martin Braun brand. Antoine Martin is due to release their first timepieces pretty soon.

Martin Braun Watches Go Independent

Martin Braun was until recently part of the struggling Franck Muller watch group. The Mr. Braun, the man behind the brand has recently left the Franck Muller group to set out on his own. It is unclear from a legal perspective whether or not Franck Muller has released the rights to the "Martin Braun" brand name or the watch designs. Thus, it is possible that Martin will have to start anew, with a totally new line and possibly a new name.

Talented and spirited, Mr. Braun is working on setting up shop outside of Lucerne. He indicates that a brand new line of watch will be coming in the spring or summer of 2010. He is well known for designing attractive and complex watches with his own unique charm and classic spirit to them. See here is one of the Hyperion models. It is nice to see that he is taking it upon himself to carry his skills and business acumen to the next level by independently taking charge and building up his business once again. I'll keep a look out for his new watch models.

Martin Braun Heliozentric Watch

martinbraunwatchSince we already have cell phones and computers for telling time it's fun to see watchmakers come up with a little something extra. This watch features the Heliozentric World Positioning Display by Martin Braun. It displays the earth's position in relation to the sun. It took quite a bit of maneuvering on the part of Martin Braun to create this complication. It takes 71 extra parts to run this watch which is powered by the ETA 2892-A2 base movement.

In this watch the central sun wheel turns twice a year, and a carrier with three planetary wheels makes an annual revolution. A blue earth located on one of the planetary wheels shows the planet's elliptical orbit and the earth's position also serves as a month display. The watch also shows which sign of the zodiac is the current one throw a wheel in the five o'clock position. The 42 mm watch comes in stainless steel or 18-carat rose gold, the perfect size for comfortable wear in any situation. This dial is made of blued steel on a stainless steel background dial and features the constellations Ursa Major and Orion, the Hunter done in diamonds.
According to Alan Furman it has a retail price of $16,800 (they are selling it for $11,760).
