Bobbi Brown Chocolate Collection

Chocolate plus cosmetics? It brings to mind childhood and Bonne Bell lip glosses but with makeup magician Bobbi Brown and Vosges Haut Chocolat involved, this is a treat for grownups. WWD has the details on Brown's new limited-edition fall color collection which was inspired by chocolate. Bobbie Brown also has created a dark milk chocolate Beauty Bar. The $6 bar will be on sale starting in July at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and four freestanding Vosges stores. The bar includes one of the "it" ingredients of the moment, matcha green tea which is supposed to speed up the metabolism. Brown's chocolate-themed makeup includes an eyeshadow palette, Chocolate Cherry nail polish, blushes and lip duos and also goes on sale in July. Alas, they are not flavored.

Estee Lauder is famous for their elegant powder compacts that often feature designs like astrological symbols or intricate flowers rendered in Swarovski crystals. Usually the compacts feature pressed powder but for summer they have this beautiful golden collectible compact that is filled with bronzer. The compact sells for $60.

Molton Brown Expands Their Cosmetics Line

I usually mention the UK company Molton Brown when discussing hotel amenities or spa treatments. They are now making a big push into the makeup world. Their Skincolor line has existed for sometime but they are now revamping it into a larger collection that will feature products with plant, fruit and flower extracts with skin-improving properties. According to Cosmetics News, the products will come in capsule format. New items will include a tinted moisturizer with ginkgo biloba which sells for $43, a blush powder for $33 and Wonderlips lipstick which will sell for $23.45.

Beautyblender, The $20 Makeup Sponge

The makeup sponge is usually an afterthought for women, an easily replaceable brown sponge that gets tossed into a drawer but two beauty entrepreneurs are trying to sell women on a $20 makeup sponge (usually you can get a whole bag of sponges for far less than that). The Beautyblender is a pink teardrop-shaped makeup applicator that helps you apply makeup more evenly. The new product will be shown in Victoria's Secret's beauty catalog, on QVC and has product placement in the Academy Awards gift bag from Warner Brothers. The sponge has its own pedestal and a cleaner to keep the sponge clean sells for $17.95. I can maybe understand the need for the pricey sponge but I draw the line at the cleanser.

I tend to buy makeup an item at a time but I've often though I would be better off just tossing it all and starting over. Neiman Marcus has the answer for anyone who has ever felt the same way, a whole Bobbi Brown makeup kit packed into a faux-crocodile case. The Beauty Trunk also has pockets for tools. The kit includes lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss, multiple eye shadows, blush, eyeliner, face base and more. The trunk sells for $475.

Continuing my obsession with beautiful makeup palettes is this gold, star-embossed compact from Dior. The DiorLucky palette has with four shadows in pale blue-gray with silver glitter, lilac with silver glitter, deep taupe, and ivory with silver glitter, a lip gloss in rose shimmer and a double applicator. It sells for$50 at Sephora.
