New Six Star Hotel Planned For London

London will be the home of a hotel that hopes to be the city's first six-star hotel. The Wellesley will be located at 11 Knightsbridge and will have just 36 luxury suites. The hotel will be managed by Arab Investments' City and Country Hotels. It was formerly commercial offices and is being developed by Rhimesong at a cost of £36 million refurbishment costs.

The hotel will have glamorous Art Deco styling with rooms spread out over six floors. The largest suite will be a four-bedroom spread on the sixth floor with views over Hyde park. This hotel will be a smoker's delight with private heated cigar terraces and the UK's largest bespoke humidor. The Crystal Bar will house a whisky and cognac wall. The Oval restaurant will serve Italian cuisine next to a dedicated jazz bar. The Wellesley in is set to open in November 2012.

The Sanderson Hotel in London has given its popular afternoon tea an intriguing Alice In Wonderland makeover for the holidays. Head chef Peter Lloyd has created a Christmas version of the much-in -demand Mad Hatters Afternoon tea. 'Drink Me' is an enticing looking bottle contains a weird and wonderful potion holding within it a three course Christmas dinner, comprising of parsnip & honey soup, Roast Turkey and Christmas pudding. The bizarre concoction offers a different and contrasting taste experience with each sip as you drink through the layers with a straw. The Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea is served daily from 2:30-5:30pm and is priced at £25 per person.

The Lanesborough hotel in London is hosting a special event on November 26 at the Michelin-starred 'Apsleys – A Heinz Beck Restaurant.' The Lanesborough and Hervé Léger by Max Azria Champagne Afternoon Tea provides not just champagne, couture and cake but also expert styling advice as well as a 15 percent discount on the Autumn Winter 2010 Collection. Tickets to the event are £49.00 per person.

Corinthia Plans Lavish London Hotel

Corinthia Hotels is showing off new details of its planned five-star luxury hotel in London. The hotel is being built in central London inside a Victorian building overlooking Trafalgar Square and the River Thames.

The Victoria exterior houses a modern interior with an inner foyer and garden, two restaurants, cocktail bar, spa, meeting facilities and a grand ballroom. Chef Massimo Riccioli, owner of La Rosetta in Rome is creating a fish and seafood specialty restaurant at the Corinthia and a new wave British restaurant will provide all-day dining. There will be 294 rooms including 45 suites. The two-bedroom Royal Suite will be over 5,050 square feet and will be the largest in London. Some suites are located on duplex floors inside turrets and feature private staircases.

The hotel is due to open in early 2011 and will become the world's ninth Corinthia hotel.

St. James Club Hotel Up For Sale

London's elite St James's Hotel and Club has been put up for sale. The London Times reports that the luxury townhouse hotel in has been listed for £60 million by the Landesberg and Rosenberg families, property investors who have owned the property for the last five years. They bought the propery for £20 million and then spent millions on renovations. The result is an elegant destination that includes the fine dining restaurant Seven Park Place. The hotel is currently part of the Althoff group of hotels.

All rooms boast handmade silk wallpaper, black lacquered furniture, handcrafted Murano glass chandeliers, polished natural stones and chrome glass fittings in the bathroom and mattresses handmade from Hypnos. The Times reports that one possibility for the property is for it to be snapped up by Britannia Hospitality, which recently bought the nearby Stafford hotel, to create one large property. The St. James Club opened in 1980. Members of the private club included Michael Caine, Liza Minnelli, Lord Attenborough and Dudley Moore.
