Hamilton Lipstick Ladies Watch, Why?

For 2011 Hamilton will release this "novelty" watch designed to look like a stick of lipstick. The metal cylinder will display a watch case on its outside case, while a twist of the tube causes a seconds dial to lift from the shaft to offer you a second timezone. My immediate reaction was "that is kind of cool," until I immediately realized this was really a novelty of the purest degree.

Does the concept make lots of sense? Aside from a future collector's item and my appreciation for the "fun" of the idea, I just sort of shake my head. This really works well for a 12 year old girl. Who else would find lasting attraction in the multi-color iridescent pink dials of the watches? The dials are just too ugly to be taken serious by a modern sophisticated woman, but I don't think that is what these watches are all about. For the most part, you are damned if you "wear" one after reaching about 20 years of age or so.

Alberto Guardiani's $400 Lipstick

Italian shoe designer Alberto Guardiani has merged two of fashion's sexiest accessories – red lipstick and black high heels to create his Lipstick Heels. Guardiani's show stopping heels will certainly inject an unexpected twist to your outfit given their quirky and unique heel. While you may not get much bang for your buck - how often can you realistically wear lipstick heels? - they would be fun to wear and serve as a total conversation starter.

I'd never heard of Paul & Joe till I read about the line in Allure. The line often features quirky beauty products, and this one is unlike any lipstick I've seen. New for fall are three Lipstick C colors with cat-shaped tips (cute or creepy? the verdict is still out ... ). The line comes in three colors (L to R) Claire de Lune, Over the Moon, and Moon Shadow. All are creamy, and slightly shimmery thanks to Paul & Joe's "Secret d'Or," a blend of three champagne frosts that appear different depending on the viewing angle. The tubes are outfitted in the brand's newest fabric prints.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color

Tom Ford is continuing his dive into the realm of beauty products with the upcoming release of the Tom Ford Private Blend Lipstick Collection. Consisting of 12 different shades all based on classics we know and love, Ford told WWD "I took the most universally flattering colors that a woman can wear, and then I re-imagined them in a modern and authoritative way." All Private Blend lipsticks will contain moisturizers like murumuru butter and soja seed and will come in a pretty gold and ivory case, along with a price tag of $45 each. Look for them this month in Europe and here in the States starting June 1st.

The process begins with a Kiss collection kit that includes M.A.C. Viva Glam lipstick. You apply the lipstick and make a lip print on the provided sheets. The sheets are then sent in and the company creates artwork from your kiss. The kiss can be ordered in a variety of colors and sizes which start at $290. A portion of every Kiss portrait goes toward the towards the M·A·C Aids fund.

Chocolate plus cosmetics? It brings to mind childhood and Bonne Bell lip glosses but with makeup magician Bobbi Brown and Vosges Haut Chocolat involved, this is a treat for grownups. WWD has the details on Brown's new limited-edition fall color collection which was inspired by chocolate. Bobbie Brown also has created a dark milk chocolate Beauty Bar. The $6 bar will be on sale starting in July at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and four freestanding Vosges stores. The bar includes one of the "it" ingredients of the moment, matcha green tea which is supposed to speed up the metabolism. Brown's chocolate-themed makeup includes an eyeshadow palette, Chocolate Cherry nail polish, blushes and lip duos and also goes on sale in July. Alas, they are not flavored.
