Tuuci Razor Shade Platform

The summer sun is one of the best parts of the season, but unfortunately also one of the greatest hazards. Staying in the shade isn't always easy, but having a Tuuci Razor Shade Platform might make a difference. Some of the inspiration behind this design from Dougan Clarke came from the idea that sitting under an umbrella can sometimes be frustrating as the sun moves throughout the day and your area of shade gets smaller and smaller. But this tilted assymetrical canopy spins 360 degrees so you can easily keep comfortable all morning and afternoon, and it's built of sturdy materials intended to last through the weather. $1500.

Urban Gnomes

I really love the Gnome-be-gone but I'm sure that if I had gnomes in my garden like these Urban Gnomes from Vitamin, I wouldn't want them gone. The 21cm high porcelain creatures come in a half-dozen different designs that can suit all tastes, unless your tastes are for very traditional gnomes, of course. Think of them as very obedient pets, which can make a fashion statement just like the real thing, but don't require pampering in luxury hotels. The gnomes are £49.50 each and can be used both indoors and out.

Push Reel Mower, Father's Day Gift of the Day

Dad likes working out in the yard, doesn't he? While to some, a Reel Push Mower could be the Father's Day gift equivalent of getting Mom a vacuum, it's really a very neat gadget to have. Not only does it have an appealingly retro look to it, but it is incredibly eco-friendly.  It requires no gas, oil or electricity to run and the flame-hardened steel blades offer surprisingly precise cutting. The mower is made of steel with a foam-padded ergonomic handle and requires little maintenance beyond periodic (every 4-8 years) blade sharpening. It makes next-to-no noise - unlike the neighbor's supercharged grass-cutting machine - and the mower weighs in at only 17 pounds. Dad may even burn off a few extra calories pushing it through the grass, though you may not want to mention that added health benefit on the gift card. Price: $198.50

Gnome Be Gone

The Gnome-Be-Gone lawn ornaments are some of the best things to ever happen to the lawn-ornament in industry. The Fred Conlon designed metal monsters come in a pair and hunt  out pesky lawn gnomes wherever they lurk. Much as the gnomes are rumored to move about at night, the Gnome-Be-Gones also move in the dark, but will proudly hold their captive high in the light of day for all to see. The pair comes with a ceramic gnome, in the event that your neighbor is not thrilled with the idea of sacrificing one of their beloved lawn ornaments to the cause. Gnome-Be-Gones will work with other kitschy lawn ornaments, too, such as plastic flamingos and ceramic cat sculptures. Price: $125.
