Tarte's Eco-eye collection: multiplEYE

Filed under: Cosmetics and Fragrance, Green

mulptipleyeWhen it comes to cosmetics, I like anything that goes near by eyes to be as natural as possible. So I was thrilled to see that Tarte's fall cosmetics line was packed with eco-friendly eye products. From eye primers to femme naturale eye palettes, the entire line was made from chemical free materials and put into reusable packaging. By far the best product of the line is the multiplEYE natural lash enhancer. I was a bit skeptical upon receiving a sample. The clear liquid, applied nightly claims to increase the appearance of your lash length by 152%. MultiplEYE is made from a HydroPlant Peptide which includes soy and amino acid proteins, the plant-thickening agent cellulose, and vitamin C. After six weeks, my lashes are longer, thicker, and most importantly feel much healthier after years of mascara abuse. The wand retails for $65 and is avaialable at Sephora, Henri Bendel, and Bergdorf Goodman.

Black Lace Eyes from Tokyo Lash Bar 2008

Shu Uemura has paired up with fashion designers Victor & Rolf to create what can only be described as an outrageously fun collection of false eyelashes that's part of their Tokyo Lash Bar 2008. The Victor & Rolf "Couture Collection" consists of three pairs of lashes called Swirl Couture, Wing Couture, and Rhombus Couture that sell for $95 a pair, and other lashes in this year's group are even more fun and sell for slightly less -- like these black lace lashes and velvet feather lashes for $50 each.

Give you any Halloween ideas? The lashes just might enough costume all on their own.

Diamond Eyelashes

Last month, we saw Shu Uemura's Feathered Fantasy Eyelashes, fake eyelashes that were decorated with real feathers for a very unusual look, but Uemura also came out with something even more impressive. The designer created a set of diamond-studded false lashes for Madonna and will now be selling pairs of the .75-carat lashes at seven Neiman Marcus stores for $10,000 per pair. If you've got the extra cash on hand, you can probably get your very own diamond-studded lashes, but for everyone else, Uemura also has another set that give you the look of silvery diamonds at a fraction of the price, since they don't use the real stones.
