Concierge Auctions Estates Sale 2010 Results Wrap-Up

We've covered a lot of Concierge Auctions homes as estate of the day properties. How did they fare? After ace real estate commenter "Spectacular Bid" let me know that the final price for Topridge, a property once listed for $9.8 million, was just $2.25 million, I was inspired to head to the Concierge Auctions website to see what I could find out about other homes we looked at. Not all of the final sale prices are listed but enough are to give a look at what real estate auctions mean for luxury home sales.

Lake George Home Auction, Estate of the Day

An ideal summer retreat is up for auction. On July 23 Concierge Auctions will auction off a Lake George home with 528 feet of shoreline. The home was originally listed for $1.395 million but buyers will have the opportunity to purchase the property at or above the published reserve of $850,000. The sale is being conducted in cooperation with listing agent Trudie McMaster of Select Sotheby's International Realty.

The home has a lovely position on a rock cliff overlooking the lake in the quiet town of Huletts Landing on Gardiner Point in upstate New York. The four-bedroom home has exposed wood beams, hardwood floors and a traditional stone fireplace. There is a formal living room and eat-in country kitchen and the attic is finished with floors and windows. The large outdoor veranda offers the ideal spot to "sit a spell" and look out over the lake and the dock and "jumping rock" which is ideal for kids and swimming.

The auction of 2763 Sheep Meadow Lane will be held live, on-site, on Friday, July 23 at 2 p.m. Attendance will be limited to registered bidders and their representatives. The property is available for preview daily from 12 to 3 p.m. and by appointment. For more information visit www.LakeGeorgeAuction.com or call 877-463-5280.

Wikiosco, Estate of the Day

I decided to take another look at another huge home that I covered a couple of years ago. Two years ago I first saw Wikiosco (the name means House of Beautiful Waters), a 1895 historic Tudor revival. The home sits on Lake George in New York facing a wide expanse of lake shoreline. The 11,000 square-foot t stone exterior stucco framed home has a beautiful classic interior with a library, leaded glass windows, an elevator, a fitness center and the original fireplace mantels and woodwork. The home has been restored by the current owners but mostly looks as if it is ready to film a Victorian melodrama without much stage dressing. The property includes a two-bedroom guest cottage, an in-ground pool, tennis court and a parking garage with room for over 20 cars. The price hasn't changed in two years, it's still at $17.9 million.

Lake George Hotel, Estate of the Day

This grand old lady of a home was built in 1895 and sits on Lake George with over 650 feet of shoreline. The mansion could be a great bed and breakfast or just your own very impressive home. It has 16 bedrooms, an exercise area that includes a sauna, steam room, massage room and locker room, and two complete bars. It's essentially your own private hotel complete with elevator. On the seven-acre property there is also a small, two-bedroom cottage, a twelve bay garage with room for over twenty automobiles, tennis court, swimming pool, a private sandy beach, and a dock complex. It is listed at $17,900,000. After the jump, the ideal setting for a 19th century drama.
