The Bottega Veneta Twisted Karung Bag is bold and beautiful, and a new step forward in the world of texture.

This medium-sized bag (9"H x 14"W x 9"D) takes a pattern which might not be that special if etched or done with stitching -- but incorporates twisted, gold-faced karung lizardskin (those sparkly gold flecks you see) to totally knock the idea out of the park.

The shape is simple and we love lilac color. The bag has a double zip top and is lined in luxurious suede.

Tanner Krolle Big Ben Evening Bag, Handbag of the Day

This Big Ben Evening Bag is a limited edition piece from designer Tanner Krolle. It has rose gold hardware, as seen in the chains connecting the handles to the body of the bag, and a white silk satin lining. The camel-colored exterior is made of Karung. Karung is a very tightly scaled snakeskin, more akin to that of a traditional lizard than a more common python skin, but it is much larger than real lizard skins and can be used for larger designs. This gives the bag the smooth feel of snakeskin without the obvious markings that python skin often has, though this distinction becomes less important if the bag is ordered in the alternative color option: purple. Price: £550.
