There is nothing better to kick start citrus season than a new juicer, and the Breville Juice Extractor is just the thing for a real fruit fan. The commercial-quality home juicer has an extra-wide feed tube that can handle all manner of fruits and vegetables, not just classic citrus fruits, and minimizes the need for preparatory work. The motor - 1,000 watts with 13,000 rpms - boasts that it can extract " to 30% more juice" than traditional home machines. The pulp is automatically separated into its own container, while the juice is dispensed into a plastic pitcher. Price: $300.

I know that I always prefer to use gold appliances whenever possible. I'm just kidding, of course, but I'm probably not the only one that wouldn't mind having a bit of bling in the kitchen. This EasyHealth Angel Juicer has a pearl and gold finish and a retail price of $2,800 (£1,500). It's a flashy appliance and will probably increase the odds of you getting your required servings of fruits and vegetables every day, as you'll have to keep it in regular use to justify the price.

Starck Alessi Salif Citrus Juicer

The innovative designer Philippe Starck has designed this truly unique citrus juicer. It looks vaguely insect-like, as though it might simply walk off the counter if left unattended, but it is simple and elegant at the same time. The juicer does not seem to have gotten the most positive feedback at Amazon.com, where users found the design a bit difficult to work with. Using a long, tall pitcher to catch the fresh juice as it drips down the cast-aluminum, pointed juicer should help things along considerably. Price: $79.
