Johnny Depp & Angelina Jolie Wear Belstaff in 'The Tourist'
Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie both sport items from luxe British outerwear company Belstaff in their stylish new movie The Tourist. Jolie wears a waterproof parka while Depp sports a military-style overcoat and leather briefcase. In addition, during filming Depp was spotted wearing a leather blouson jacket by Belstaff that was in fact made for his 2009 movie Public Enemies (see the gallery). While Depp's coat is unfortunately not available to the general public, his briefcase and Jolie's jacket will be this spring.

The Tourist Parka, which Jolie wears in the movie's boating scenes (above), is made of waterproof, breathable self-shining fabric and with an adjustable drawcord and large, snug hood. It's priced at $795. The Office Bag, Depp's vintage style leather briefcase, is priced at $775. Belstaff was a favorite of Steve McQueen and has also outfitted Brad Pitt in Inglorious Basterds, Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible and War of the Worlds, Tom Hanks in The Da Vinci Code, Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns and George Clooney in Leatherheads.

The Classicist: Celebrating a Century of Style Icons

Filed under: Apparel, Books, Men's Style

Cary Grant, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Steve McQueen, Tom Ford and David Beckham have all had an undeniably important influence on the world of men's style – but what about Truman Capote, Che Guevara, the Sex Pistols and Jarvis Cocker? They all deserve credit as well, argues Simone Werle in a cool, lavishly illustrated new book called Fashionisto: A Century of Style Icons from Prestel. Werle names 50 figures from the last 100 years who have had an impact not only on the way men choose to adorn themselves but how they act and as well. She dubs them "fashionistos", the male equivalent of the famous fashionista. What makes a man a fashionisto? "Swagger, elegance, daring, perhaps a really well cut suit," the author notes, but not always – see Oscar Wilde, Johnny Depp and Kurt Cobain.

Each icon is featured in a double page spread with glossy full-color photographs and Werle's acute observations, anecdotes, and historical insight. While you may not have personally felt the sartorial influence of Boy George or Bootsy Collins, Werle makes a compelling case for their inclusion. She divides the book into sections according to the various styles or fashion phylum represented: The Gentlemen, The Rebels, The Dandies, The Rock Stars, The Classics, The Fashion Designers, The Beautiful People, The Bands and The Extraterrestrials.

"Fashionistos like fashionistas choose clothing that accentuates their best parts, not only of their bodies but also their personalities," Werle writes. "Both know when to follow the rules of style and when to break them. And both have the courage to stay who they are. But all the same, there is a huge difference. Men have a much easier time in fashion – and yet a much more difficult one." How so, you ask? "Classic men's fashion has very clear-cut rules; if you follow them, you can't go wrong. The man who doesn't look good in a custom-made suit of fine fabric has yet to be born," she notes. "But to make a mark on the history of style, more is needed – and this is where it gets tricky. Men's fashion does not suffer rebels gladly. If you have the courage to rebel, you need self-confidence – and more than that, a sense of style."

The Classicist: The Summer of Superstars Borrowing Superyachts

Filed under: Yachts & Sailing, Celebrity Shopping, The Classicist, Wealth

The other day we reported that Madonna has borrowed Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich's brand new superyacht, the 377-ft. Luna, while filming the new Duke of WIndsor movie she's directing in the South of France. The yacht is fitted out with two helicopter pads, a covered pool, spa, medical center, hot tub and 40 staff, including butlers and a macrobiotic chef. The middle-aged Material Girl isn't the only celeb cadging a ride on a pal's superyacht this summer, however – everyone from Brad and Angelina to the Beckhams are living it up on the high seas, though some stars are actually paying their way. Here's the full rundown on the famous folk's nautical hijinks:

1. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: the world's most famous movie star couple have borrowed Johnny Depp's classic yacht, the 156-ft. Vajoliroja (above), which as we noted in April is available for charter at $130,000 per week, JustLuxe reports. The mahogany paneled craft features accommodations for 10 guests and a crew of 8, a formal dining room, library, plush salon and outdoor seating and eating areas, all decorated in Depp's signature version of Art Deco Paris meets the Orient Express.

2. David Beckham and Victoria Beckham: Posh and Becks have borrowed their pal designer Roberto Cavalli's iridescent 133-ft. yacht, the RC, which features a leopardskin interior, 15 bedrooms, a gym, whirlpool spa and locker full of fur coats for when the weather turns cool. Supposedly Cavalli only allows clothes he designed to be worn onboard.

3. Simon Cowell: The TV star is one of the few celebs footing the bill for his fun, having shelled out a whopping $975,000 per week to charter the 196-ft. Slipstream. The 12-berth yacht boasts sumptuous leather sofas, mirrors above a giant waterbed, a Jacuzzi, an observation lounge with panoramic views, gym, a sky lounge with a retractable roof and a crew of 14 including a private chef.

4. Paris Hilton: The world's biggest party girl is kicking back on Microsoft magnate Paul Allen's 300-ft. pleasure craft the Tatoosh, which as we recently reported has been put up for sale at $160 million. The yacht, which has a pool, hot tub, cinema, basketball court, recording studio, spa, massage room, gym, games room and helicopter pad, comes with a crew of 30. "The best summer of my life," Paris recently tweeted about the trip. "Our yacht is incredible! I'm in heaven on the water. Definitely the biggest and best yacht everywhere we go. Love it! Huge!" cave cay
In a rare offering, an incredibly beautiful private island in Exuma, Bahamas, is being offered for sale at $110 million. Located near David Copperfield's famed Musha Cay, the island, called Cave Cay, features a protected deep-water harbor and marina with floating cement dock system and 35 dock slips, a 2,800 ft. private airstrip and several completed buildings. The island is totally self sufficient with water and power supplied by diesel generators, and features unspoiled beaches, lush vegetation, and elevations of up to 40 ft. capturing breathtaking views. Perched atop one of the highest points on the island is a luxurious owner's estate with 360-degree views and top-of-the-line appointments. Plans are in place for a world-class resort including a large clubhouse and restaurant, marina, shop, and guest houses, though it would of course make the perfect private retreat. Christie's Great Estates has the listing.

Johnny Depp's Yacht Available for Summer Charter

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels, Yachts & Sailing

You can cruise the Mediterranean like Johnny Depp in the actor's private yacht Vajoliroja this summer for $130,000 a week. The classic and stylish 156-ft. craft, which Depp purchased in 2007 and had completely refitted, is modeled on the vintage lines of a 1930s tycoon's steam yacht. Vanity Fair once described the Vajoliroja as Depp's "floating salon, garret, and getaway", and he sometimes stays aboard while on location. With accommodations for 10 guests and a crew of 8, it features a formal dining room, outdoor seating areas, a master suite, four guest cabins, built in walnut cabinets housing the actor's considerable floating library, and Honduran mahogany paneling. The décor, which Depp himself had a strong hand in along with designer L.M. Pagano, is an emphatically vintage cross between an Art Deco-era Parisian bordello and the Orient Express. Of course it also features state-of-the-art entertainment and communications systems.

Johnny Depp's Secret Weapon of Style

Filed under: Apparel, Celebrity Shopping, Men's Style

johnny depp
As we reported earlier this month, Johnny Depp was recently named the most stylish man in the world by GQ. He's not some louche designer's life-sized Ken Doll, but rather an "icon of eccentric cool" as the mag notes thanks to an offbeat and idiosyncratic wardrobe that's unique in the Hollywood hierarchy. The secret of his sartorial success? Kakkoii Mono, a vintage emporium in Bozeman, Montana that supplies the star with genuine vintage threads in mint condition which no one else is likely to turn up wearing at the same red carpet soirée. Of course much of the credit is due to his skillful stylist Samantha McMillen who is notified the minute KM founder Ellen Flanz turns up anything worthy of Depp's attention on one of her extensive buying sorties.

"Sourcing quality vintage is both labor-intensive and a labor of love," Flanz notes," and finding exceptional menswear is a challenge that I adore." Kakkoii Mono, which means "cool things" in Japanese, has just launched a new website so ordinary folk can get a bit of Depp's sprezzatura right from home, and now boasts the best collection of men's vintage clothing and accessories available anywhere online. The well-curated selection of men's suits is particularly impressive; Leonard Cohen, Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson and Patrick Dempsey are also big fans. Of course, KM stocks women's items as well, including many highly collectible pieces. Check it all out at kakkoiimono.com.

The complete list follows in no particular order; you can read more and vote for your favorites via the mag's website.

Johnny Depp Takes His Yacht To Puerto Rico

Filed under: Yachts & Sailing, Celebrity Shopping

johnny deppIf you are a movie star one of the advantages of having your own yacht is being able to take a little bit of home with you as you film. Johnny Depp's luxury yacht called the Vajoliroja is currently moored in Puerto Rico as he films his latest movie.

Depp bought the yacht in 2007 and the name was formed by taking the first two letters of each of the names of the people in his family (his partner Vanessa, Johnny, daughter Lily Rose and son Jack). Before Depp owned the yacht she was known as the Anatolia and was built by Proteksan Turquoise in Turkey in 2001. The 156-foot vintage style trawler has a crew of seven and accommodations for 10 guests.

Depp's Girlfriend Replaces Kirsten Dunst in Miu Miu Ads

Johnny Depp's gorgeous longtime girlfriend, French model/singer/actress Vanessa Paradis, has been chosen to replace Kirsten Dunst as the face of Miuccia Prada's sporty Miu Miu diffusion line. Paradis will appear in the label's futuristic Fall/Winter ads (right) shot by sought-after fashion photog duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot in Los Angeles, Vogue UK reports.

"At once a deconstruction and a pure visual composition, the campaign addresses the exploration of beauty in conjunction with intellect, imagination, and divergence," a Miu Miu rep says. Paradis has previously appeared in several ads for Chanel. She and Depp have been together for 10 years and have two children. Last year my colleague Deirdre Woolard reported that Depp had bought her a vineyard near St. Tropez.

The Most Stylish Moments in the History of Cannes

Filed under: Apparel, Events, Men's Style

The Cannes Film Festival, which began today in the South of France, has always been more focused on artistic merit than the blockbusters of the Academy Awards; that makes for a much more interesting mise-en-scène in our view. The cool crowd has always gravitated to the Riviera for this annual cinematic happening, not to mention the chance to compete for those little gold palm fronds. Along with the Met Costume Institute Gala it's easily one of the year's most stylish events.

As Cannes enters its seventh decade, this seems like the perfect time for a slideshow of some of the most classic style moments in its vivid history, including this rouge carpet scene from 1998. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was nominated for a Palme d'Or that year and its star Johnny Depp sported a midnight blue shawl-collared dinner jacket at the premiere. Meanwhile his co-star Benicio Del Toro (right) stuck to a classic tux, while Depp's date Kate Moss looked kind of like she'd been attacked by an angry emu -- but in a hot way. Johnny Depp Buys His Girlfriend A Vineyard

Filed under: Estates, Wine, Celebrity Shopping

Johnny Depp is enough to make any wine-loving woman swoon. The sexy pirate is not only a knowledgeable oenophile but now he as bought his long-time girlfriend Vanessa Paradis her own vineyard. The couple already live in France but now Depp has bought a property in Plan de la Tour, a village in the Massif des Maures hills near St. Tropez. The gift was to celebrate Paradis' new album, Divinidylle. Decanter reports that the new land is close to a villa the couple share and that they have often been seen in the area. Paradis may even take part in the village's annual wine fête.

It's not known if the land is really a vineyard, though. Decanter spoke with someone from the local wine co-operative, Les Fouleurs de Saint Pons, who said that the estate bought by Depp does not contain winemaking facilities, and that it may have some vines but that they haven't received any grapes from there.
