Kroc Necklace Sells For Over $2 Million
The fabulous jewels of
McDonald's heiress Joan Kroc brought in close to $7 million at Christie's
“Magnificent Jewels” auction on Tuesday. The gorgeous necklace shown here went for over $2 million to a
private collector in Europe. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune this
auction is just part of converting Kroc's assets to cash. When she died in 2003, she left around $1.5 billion to the
Salvation Army to create community centers. Christie's will also auction off her artwork at several upcoming sales on
April 19, May 3 and May 25. Other furniture and decorative arts items will be part of a Christie's House Sale in June
and proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army. Also, as we mentioned earlier, her Rancho Santa Fe estate is on the market.
