Paul Fraser Collectibles has a rather unique piece of writing from Harry Potter author JK Rowling. Years before she was a best-selling author, Rowling was a single mother living in Edinburgh. At the time she befriended the parents of a newborn baby Jack David Buchanan and created a beautiful hand-drawn horoscope for the boy. The 12 pages horoscope contains drawings. The cover shows fish and a lion on the cover (the child was born on cusp of Pisces). Inside Rowling wrote her astrological predictions for young Jack including the fact that he will "perhaps be accident-prone, (like all Pisces) could be prone to alcoholism, and (perhaps like us all) may well fall in love with someone totally incompatible." The work is priced at £25,000.

The JK Rowling Suite At The Balmoral Hotel

The hotel suite where JK Rowling finished the Harry Potter series has become a monument of sorts. Last year, Rowling checked into room 552 of the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland to finish Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now this suite has been named the JK Rowling Suite and it will be available to guests for £965 per night. The room contains a marble bust of the Greek God Hermes that Rowling signed after she finished the final book. The 180-square-foot suite also includes the desk and bed she used during her stay. A brass plaque is now on the front door and the door knocker has been replaced by a brass owl like those in the books.

Little Hobbits Bring in the Big Bucks

We've seen great, 1st edition books like the Harry Potter series sell for some serious money but JRR Tolkien is giving JK Rowling a run for the top spot. Recently, the 1937 first edition of The Hobbit sold for £60,000 at auction to an anonymous bidder -- two times what is was expected to bring in! I knew it came before the famous trilogy of the Lord of the Rings but I didn't know The Hobbit was Tolkien's most successful book. Other unique Tolkien-esque keepsakes were included at the auction including a photograph of the writer.

Rowling Book Sells For Nearly $4 Million

J.K. Rowling's latest book, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, just went up for auction and ended up making nowhere near the amount expected. The last of 7 handwritten editions of the book (which will not be published) was expected to go for around $100,000, so I'm sure there were some pleasantly surprised faces when bidding closed just shy of $4 million dollars.

The money will be donated to The Children's Voice, a charity that campaigns for the rights of children in Europe and was co-founded by Rowling and Baroness Nicholson back in 2005. In response to the auction's end Rowling was "ecstatic" and was quoted as saying "It means Christmas has come early to me this year."

Spear's Wealth Management Survey, A New Magazine For The Ultra-Rich

Wonder what Roman Abramovich is reading? Like a few other wealthy people, including JK Rowling he might just be curling up with Spear's Wealth Management Survey, a new magazine aimed at the ultra-wealthy. The U.K.-based magazine is sent by invitation-only to those with assets over£5m. According to anarticle in the Observer, the magazine is sent to a list of about 2,000 people. Spear's Wealth Management focuses on the needs of the superrich including hedge funds, Swiss banks, crisis management, bulletproof cars and above all, staying rich.
