Jimmy Choo rarely disappoints whether it's shoes or handbags. Certainly his new saucy duo, Lola & Lois, is no exception. With their similar patent leather look and chunky size they make for hefty handbags. Each has its own distinct look -- Lois sports a detachable mini-messenger bag while Lola presents in a sassy Bordeaux color -- so you really can't go wrong preferring one over the other. Its feels a bit early to me to be breaking out the patent leather but if you buy it now then you'll be ready when the seasons change. Both are available for $2,495.
A clutch that manages to be both simple and interesting, this Jimmy Choo Kase Oval Clutch is made of goldtone metal and features a single over-sized amethyst stone on the center of both sides. It's fully lined with a small "Jimmy Choo" logo stamp on the outside and another logo on the inside. I'd prefer it in silver myself, but overall it's a gorgeous bag that really looks more like a piece of jewelry than a handbag -- if you like to keep things simple it would go great with a black dress and minimal other accessories. $1495
Some bags are meant for specific occasions, some bags are meant to make a statement, and some bags are meant to be exceptionally stylish for a very short period of time. And still other bags are meant to be flexible, to do and to go wherever you need them. This Jimmy Choo Malena Shoulder Bag fits into that category. Stylish and neutral, this bag will carry your everyday essentials alongside your everyday outfits with ease. It features vanilla patent leather paired with suede, lots of buckles, a few zippers, and brushed brass detailing. $1,975
Model and starlet, Kim Kardashian is auctioning off some of her favorite accessories, shoes and clothing to benefit the Dream Foundation -- a non-profit that helps the dreams of terminally-ill adults come true. From now until June 8th, Kim's items will be on eBay ready for bidding. The gallery below shows just a few of the special finds available -- Jimmy Choo, Cartier and Yves Saint Laurent are just a few of the names dropped at this event. I like the extra bonus of supporting such a great organization while purchasing star-touched items.
As my colleague Deidre Woollard noted the other day, Istanbul has become something of a hotspot for foriegn brands. In addition to the Christian Dior boutique she wrote about, Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Bottega Veneta and Jimmy Choo have all recently opened shops in the Besiktas district, aka the SoHo of Istanbul. The centerpiece of the neighborhood is undoubtedly Starwood's new W Istanbul (which she mentioned as well). This is the first European outpost for W, the fastest growing luxury hotel brand in the world with 22 properties and 18 more in development. Here's a tour of the hip new hotel which W constructed out of a row of beautiful 1870s townhouses. The W Istanbul features 134 luxurious guest rooms including 26 suites -- many with their own private gardens, terraces and cabanas -- a branch of chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's New York hotspot Spice Market, a sexy Sip Lounge bar, and a signature spa. It also boasts spectacular views of the Bosphorus, the renowned waterway between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara.
Functional and chic, this Jimmy Choo "Troy" bag is roomy enough to hold all your favorite junk and still look sleek and stylish. Available in black, zebra print, gold and espresso, the "Troy" comes with a removable chain (shoulder strap) and is embellished with all the Jimmy Choo signature hardware. At $1,295.00 it is available on the Jimmy Choo website. While Jimmy Choo received most of his early notoriety as a shoe designer, his purses and accessories are quickly becoming equally as sought after.
Jimmy Choo lovers heads up: the president and founder Tamara Mellon has "upped her ante" this fall by creating the Jet Set Collection. Designed as the perfect compliment to the fast paced high-flying lifestyle of Jimmy Choo clients, the Bari Bag represents the first time the brand label has stepped into the arena of an "utilitarian, albeit chic" design.
The Bari Bag was created with the help of creative director Sandra Choi. It's a crocodile bag with beautiful Bugatti construction, a bold zipper that allows the bag to expand, and its own fur blanket. Oh, and don't forget the $28,000 price tag.
Animal prints can be tricky to wear. In most instances, a little goes a long way, but they're fun to wear so it's not a bad idea to have a piece or two in your closet at home. Zebra print can be a little more forgiving than leopard or other spotted prints because stripes are a bit easier to work with and black and white is easy to accessorize. Jimmy Choo's Ramona Zebra-Print Tote is made of haircalf and has soft black leather on the trim, tab closure and shoulder straps. All the hardware is silver, which blends nicely with the white of the bag, including the logo push-lock on the bag's front. It measures 11"H x 17"W x 10"D. Price: $2,450.
Shield your eyes. Jimmy Choo's Keeya Metallic Tote is blinding when set in direct sunlight, but its reflective finish is a good accessory for casual-elegant evening wear, adding a whole new glow to a night time look. Although it has a silvery cast, the bag is actually made with pale gold leather. The tote features wide, soft handles, a central zip pocket and two slim pockets at each end of the tote. $1,395.
Winter gives designers the opportunity to use exotic furs and skins because they seem to be more appropriate for cold nights than hot summer days, so it's not a surprise when we see more unusual leathers as the end of the year approaches. Jimmy Choo's Anaconda Handle Bag is made with black anaconda skin, used both on the body and the handle of the bag. It is accented with gold hardware and studs and measures 9"H x 13 1/4"W x 6"D. Price: $1,895.
Made of fine-textured karung, the Ciggy Glitter Clutch is a charming addition to Jimmy Choo's new season lineup. The bag's slightly shimming finish gives it just enough glamour for evening wear, without being overdone, and the gold-tone hardware blends nicely with the rich brown color of the leather. The front buckle is engraved with the designer's logo and secures the top flap closure, which conceals a suede-lined interior. It is just large enough to hold all of your essentials - not just cigarettes, despite the name. Price: $895.
Part of their fall lineup, the Double Ring Tote Bag by Jimmy Choo is now available for preorder. The bag is made of incredibly smooth calfskin in black and has a suede lining with a flap closure. The only thing that is unclear about this bag is how it got its name. It could be from the double handles, accented with silver, or the double rows of leather "stitching" that circle the bag. In either case, the bag has a little bit of sass that elevates it beyond a basic black tote. Price: $1,850.
What are the top trends in
women's shoes this season? Think heels that are very, very high. Think wedges that tower. And think pointy heels
that are super-aggressive. But the look isn't all tough, with feminine touches like bows, ribbons and polka dots
softening the look for spring.
Look for plenty of fierce-looking, "Gladiator"-inspired footwear this
spring, including Alexander McQueen's leather strappy
sandal. Price: $695.
Wow, in my opinion, this is one startlingly ugly bag. This Jimmy Choo bag takes a couple of different trends, the
hobo shape, all-over ornamentation, and dangling zippers and combines them to eye-paining effect. The bag is made of soft
nubuck leather nearly entirely covered with Swarovksi crystals except for strange Rorshach-like patches of plain
leather. The top zip has a long tassel pull. The
bag sells for $2,100.
Megs at The Purse Blog recently checked out the new Jimmy Choos that are
available for pre-order. She fell for the classic
Jimmy Choo Leather Tote, which is a lovely bit of nice navy understated. I, however, found myself lured in a
different direction. This Jimmy
Choo Printed Leather Bag is everything I shouldn't like. It comes in gets-dirty-quickly ivory calfskin with a gold
geometric print and has a rope that is laced through the top and has two thick dangling tassels that seem guaranteed to
look ratty after a few days. And yet I am completely enthralled. It just seems like such a bright, peppy yet elegant bag
to sling onto your shoulder and stride down the street on a spring morning. Which is when the bag is set to arrive
(3/22/06) if you pre-order now. The bag sells for $2300.
