Introducing Bullet Girl - Jewelry Made of Ammunition
Filed under: Jewelry
If you're looking to toughen your image, or need a little extra courage on an intimidating day, consider decking yourself with bullets for that extra edge. Bullet Girl is a new line of ear, neck, ring and wrist jewelry designed with "an unflinching affirmation of self" in mind. The bullets are plated in gold or rhodium and contrasted with feminine details like diamonds, pearls and onyx. Some pieces feature dozens of whole bullet blanks strung together for a spiky look, while others use just the bullet caps -- sometimes laced together like little rosettes and accented with cubic zirconia, as in the custom necklace at right.
Houston-based designer Jessica Meyer was inspired by the casings she saw as a child at her grandfather's ammunition factory in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Notably, some of the collection features peace signs or the word "Faith" scrawled elegantly with diamonds, emphasizing the designer's choice to use deadly weapons as a symbol of inner strength, juxtaposing war and peace.
The Bullet Girl collection ranges in price from $160 to $1,750.
