James Brady in East Hampton, Estate of the Day
Filed under: Estates

Today's home in East Hampton, New York was originally built in 1952 and purchased in 1978 by writer and novelist James Brady. The traditional white home is one of the simpler homes on the posh address of Further Lane (one of his books "Further Lane: A Novel" is a dishy murder mystery set in the area).
The six-bedroom home charms with built-in bookcases, an eat-in kitchen overlooking the backyard, a large front dining room, a formal living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a cozy family room with a brick fireplace and sliding doors leading to the slate patio/deck and pool area. The home has two separate master bedroom suites, one on each floor, and the one on the second floor has a deck. It's likely that the new owner will probably want to renovate, ripping out Formica countertops and wood paneling but hopefully they won't take too much of the old Hamptons style away. This classic home is listed at $4.9 million.
