Michael Jackson Portrait by Andy Warhol Expected to Fetch Millions

In 1984, Michael Jackson and Andy Warhol were at the heights of their respective careers. The two pop artists have since passed, but their one collaboration is about to hit the auction block in a sale expected to figure in the millions.

This portrait of Jackson painted by Warhol, measuring 30 x 26 inches, is valued at half a million pounds sterling (nearly $850k), but is likely to fetch far more than that when it hits the block in the near future in a New York auction. Until then, it will be on display at the British Music Experience in London, where Michael was due to launch his comeback concert immediately prior to his untimely death.

Jackson Modern, Estate of the Day

This might be my favorite Jackson, Wyoming home yet. It's a great modern riff on the log cabin. Glass and wood dominate the contemporary home which sits on five acres atop gated North Gros Ventre Butte. The home's large glass windows offer gorgeous mountain views. The beige-on-beige color scheme isn't the most thrilling I have seen but the spare design means that you can bring your modern furniture to your Wyoming home and it won't look horribly out of place. This home is listed at $7.25 million.

Jackson Auction Next Month, Michael's Upset

If you're a Jackson fan then you'll be happy to know that at the end of next month there's an auction scheduled with over 1,100 Jackson family items set to go up on the block. One person who isn't so happy about it, however, is the biggest Jackson of all -- Michael himself.

Items available for bidding will include everything from handwritten lyrics to the old Jackson 5 hit ABC to Michael Jackson's gold record for Thriller. Michael claims he had no idea his memorabilia was going to be included in the auction, and is considering possible legal action to stop it.

I can see how it would be sad to see somebody else selling off your old stuff for a profit, but as far as lawsuits go I can't imagine anybody would try to auction off celebrity property, especially Jackson property in such a public way, unless they had the right to do so? But you never know, people can be pretty crazy.

Michael Jackson Refinances by Selling Songs

Michael Jackson, struggling to pay off the approximately $300 million that he owes to the New York hedge fund, Fortress Investment Group, has announced that he has reached a deal with the group. Though the exact details were not released, a part of the deal has Jackson selling half of his shares in the Sony/ATV music library - 25% of the total collection - to Sony. After the sale, Sony will own 75% of the library. Jackson's portion, which he purchased in 1985, is currently valued at half a billion dollars and includes the rights to 251 Beatles songs as well as music by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks.
