Remodeling? Consider $1,000,000 Diamond Floor Tiles

We've all heard stories when we were kids about far away kings and queens that were so rich they never went anywhere without having rose petals (or some other lavish item) sprinkled beneath their feet as they walked. But as much fun as it is to imagine living like that it's not something that really realistic, is it?

Pietra Firma
thinks it is, and for the perfectly realistic (*cough*) price of just $1,000,000 per square meter they offer floor tiles not made of roses but instead each featuring over 1000 genuine diamonds, along with thousands of insets of precious materials like mother of pearl, abalone, and black onyx.

So ... they are beautiful. I wonder how many square meters they've sold and to who?

Jaguar Teams Up With Apple on XF Interior

iJag? Jaguar is turning over a new leaf thanks to Apple, who helped the automaker shake the big slab of wood out of the cockpit and back onto the tree. The Ford-owned premium brand, known for the stodgy wood accents in the interior, tapped the iPod maker's design team for help in redesigning the XF's interior for a more current look.

Ian Callum, Jaguar's design chief, told Car Magazine that Apple is contributing to the XF's control interfaces in what will hopefully be an improvement on infotainment interfaces everywhere -- BMW's control interface has been under fire for years, just as an example.

Callum says that cool blue lighting and big control dial will do the trick. Besides reportedly being more intuitive, the new control system takes up less space and introduces a range of infotainment options.

What You 'Must Have' in the Ultimate Dream Home

Following the spending trends of the wealthy is big business, obviously, and it seems one of the places all their money is going is into filling up their huge homes with loads of pricey decor and expensive gadgets. The rich are looking to make their environments beautiful and comfortable and their lifestyles convenient, and they've got the money to do it right. Hand-embroidered sheets from Leron, the Grand Palais Chateau 180 Stove from La Cornue, and a $2.5 million dollar "Bat Cave" vault are just a few of the things many of the super rich feel they simply must have. What's on your list of luxury "must haves?"

The Loopty Loopy Loopita

Try to say "Loopty Loopy Loopita" ten times fast -- it'll put your tongue in a twist that looks something like this chair I bet. Every so often a design puts off a vibe that's pure happiness, and to me this is one of those designs. The name obviously inspires laughter, but the chair itself looks like a big orange peel to me -- which inspires more laughter. What does it look like to you?

Designed by Victor Aleman, it's flexible as far as how many "loops" you want and how far apart they're spaced, and it's made from a single piece of red oak coated in high-density foam. Talk about interesting seating arrangement possibilities by mixing and matching several Loopty Loopy Loopitas together in the same room! Definitely not for the serious at heart.
