All-New Infiniti M Debuts in Los Angeles

The new Infiniti M has been a long time coming. While its kid brother the G has been updated a couple of times, and the FX crossover has as well, the outgoing range-topping M has had to soldier on until now.

We first got a glimpse of its design – inspired by the show-stopping Essence concept – at the Monterey concours back in August, and it's finally made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The styling is a vast improvement over the boxy model it replaces, but as with many great Japanese luxury sedans, it's what's underneath all that curvaceous bodywork that counts most.

Available in M37 or M55 guise, the new luxury sedan can be had with a 330hp 3.7-liter V6 or a 420hp direct-injection 5.6-liter V8 (producing nearly 100 more horsepower than the 4.5-liter unit it replaces), both with Infiniti's proprietary valve-timing system. A hybrid system is in the works as well. The M packs either rear or all-wheel-drive with a seven-speed automatic and available four-wheel-steering, and benefits from such safety systems as Blind Spot Warning and Intervention, Lane Departure Warning and Intervention, Distance Control Assist, Active Tracing Control, Intelligent Brake Assist and Forward Collision Warning, all in an effort to keep this svelte new sedan and its occupants safe along the journey.

Infiniti Unveils Updated G37 at Los Angeles Show

Infiniti has been busy at work. After charting the course for its new design direction with the breathtaking Essence concept in Geneva last March, Nissan's luxury division has been on a campaign to revise its entire range.

The G37 Coupe and Convertible have been recently revised. The FX crossover recently underwent a complete replacement. The M sedan is all-new for 2011. There's a new QX sport-utility coming early next year. Plans continue ahead for the company's first all-electric vehicle. And just to make sure its bread-and-butter luxury saloon wasn't left behind, they've revised the G37 sedan as well, unveiled just last week at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Updates over the outgoing model are subtle, but keep the sedan looking fresh for the next few years. The front end has been updated along the lines of Infiniti's new styling language, along with a subtly revised rear bumper and new wheels. Inside, the cabin has been revised with white instrument gauges, a 7-inch LCD touch screen to operate the sound system and real-time traffic and navigation system. The center console has been restyled, and there's new wood veneers and aluminum trim. Check it out for yourself in the high-resolution image galleries below.

Infiniti Presents Exclusive FX Millionaire Edition in Holland

While Range Rover may have had the market cornered once upon a time, today buyers in the market for a luxury sport-utility or crossover have no shortage of choices. But those European buyers looking for something a little more exclusive have a new option in front of them: the Infiniti FX Millionaire Edition.

Set to be unveiled next week at Amsterdam's Millionaire Fair, the special edition FX crossover is available with either a 3.7-liter V6 or 5-liter V8. It can be ordered in either Obsidian Black or White Moonlight, and is complemented by special dark graphite trim around the grille, windows, roof rails and 21" wheels. Inside the Millionaire Edition gets all the latest electronics (including Bose surround sound, Around View Monitor and satellite navigation) in a cabin draped in micro-suede with brown stitching and offset by carbon fiber trim.

The special package doesn't come cheap, though: the FX50 Millionaire Edition sells for an immodest €95,450 – about $144,000, or twice what a stock model would cost in the United States.

Plans for Nissan GT-R Include Exclusive, Luxurious SpecM

Since launching the GT-R, Nissan has been taking on the likes of Porsche and company with a twin-turbocharged supercar capable of out-performing exotics worth twice as much. But while there were rumors that the Japanese automaker was considering a luxury version for its premium Infiniti division, nothing seems to have come to fruition. However emerging reports indicate some exciting developments for the car affectionately known as Godzilla.

In addition to a few minor modifications for the upcoming model year, Nissan is planning a SpecM version with an added measure of luxury and exclusivity. Few details are known at this point, but the existing SpecV model (pictured above) already has hearts racing in true GT-R style. The SpecM should arrive some time next year, but by 2013 the car is expected to receive a thorough overhaul to keep it ahead of the Porsche 911 GT2... and just about anything else, for that matter.

All-New 2011 Infinti M Sedan Unveiled for Pebble Beach

Luxury automaker Infiniti used the occasion of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance to debut its new flagship M sedan. The vehicle is scheduled to be unveiled in a new high-tech virtual model presentation, but while the press and public in Monterey wait for Nissan's premium division to give them a sneak preview, the company has released the first images of the new-for-2011 M sedan range.

While the original M series was decidedly boxy and angular and the current second-generation model is rather dull, the upcoming new model takes on some of the curvaceous lines that were so well received on the Essence concept from the Geneva salon . Infiniti is also offering the new M with either V6 or V8 engine options, in M37 and M56 guises, while offering a bigger shape than the likes of the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series against which the new Infiniti will be facing off in the marketplace.

New Infiniti M Luxury Sedan to get Virtual Preview at Pebble Beach

Infiniti, it has emerged, is getting ready to unveil the replacement for its flagship M series sedan (current version pictured above) at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. But though the Monterey venue has become a popular alternative venue to debut new luxury cars – case in point Infiniti's choice to unveil the new G37 coupe there last year – the new M's will be anything but business as usual. Projecting a rendered image of the car onto a static clay model, Nissan's luxury division will be using "virtual video mapping", giving the company a chance to showcase its technological abilities as well as the design of its new top-of-the-line luxury sedan before the final car is even ready. As an added bonus, Infiniti will reportedly broadcast the "debut" on its website, giving those of us stuck at home away from the glitz and glamor of Pebble Beach a chance to get in on the action.

Infiniti and Louis Vuitton Pull the Veil off the Essence Concept in Geneva

After twenty years in the North American market, Infiniti has become a mainstay of the luxury segment on this side of the Atlantic. But in Europe - home to some of the most established premium automakers in the world - Nissan's luxury division is just making its debut. The corporate strategists knew they'd have to make a big splash to make any sort of impact on the European market, so they teamed up with luxury label Louis Vuitton to create the stunning Essence concept.

Collaborations between automakers and fashion labels are nothing new - think Audi and Prada or Lamborghini and Versace - and we brought you news of this partnership before the show even opened. But we had no idea what a stunning show car it would yield. Easily among the most beautiful of the show-stoppers this year in Geneva, the Infiniti Essence features hybrid propulsion that yields nearly 600 horsepower, in a muscular yet elegant and futuristic shape that couldn't be missed. LV was brought in to craft a special set of fitted luggage for the concept, rekindling a century-old business for the French luxury label which we hope Infiniti will offer on its existing vehicles already in showrooms. Louis Vuitton Luggage for New Infiniti Concept Car

Luxury Japanese auto maker Infiniti plans to unveil a new concept car at next month's Geneva Auto Show that comes complete with a set of custom Louis Vuitton luggage. Infiniti design boss Shiro Nakamura is pictured above with one of the high-tech Vuitton designs at the LV store in Roppongi, Tokyo earlier this week. Regarding the vehicle, Infiniti has said only that it represents "a celebration of the brand and its 20 years of history as a creator of sporty luxury vehicles," and described it as an "exploration into the brand's future," MotorAuthority reports. The Vuitton / Infiniti partnership is the latest in a line of luxury label collaborations with car marques, including Hermes and Bugatti, Prada and Hyundai (and now Audi as well), Versace and Lamborghini, and Dunhill and Bentley.
