JW Marriott Opens Tallest Hotel in Indiana

Filed under: Luxury Travel & Hotels

jw marriott indianapolisAs our sister site AOL Travel reported, JW Marriott has opened the doors of its latest hotel, the JW Marriott Indianapolis. The 34-story hotel is the tallest in the state of Indiana. The massive hotel is aimed at attracting conventioneers with 1,005 guestrooms, 53 meeting rooms, and a 40,500-square-foot Grand Ballroom, the largest hotel ballroom in the Midwest.

Guests will be pampered in rooms with 40" LCD televisions and a plug-in panel that integrates laptops, MP3 and video players (you'll pay a $12.95 for high speed internet access and unlimited calling). The building includes a Osteria Pronto, and High Velocity, which is described as an energetic, high-tech Indianapolis sports bar.

The hotel is piece of a $450 million complex of Marriott hotels that takes up seven acres offering a total of 2,248 new hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis. The Marriott complex is just part of an ambitious $3 billion urban investment project in downtown Indianapolis that includes the expanded Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, and a new International Airport all designed to bring more tourism to the area. Opening rates start at $159. A video tour from local television station WISH-TV is after the jump.

Luxury Condo Project Stalls In Indianapolis

More condo fallout. This time from downtown Indianapolis and a building called 707 East North Street. The eight-story building had units listed for $800,000 to $4.4 million and groundbreaking occurred 18 months ago. The building was to be home to 10 to 17 units depending on buyer demand. There's only one problem, none had been sold since construction began. Some say the prices were simply too high (being higher than some large homes in the area). Other high-end projects have faired better including 757 Mass Avenue, a project by the same developer Beilouny Luxury Properties, which has sold all but three of its 23 units. Construction is on hold and the developers are in discussion with the lending bank on the project.

Indianapolis Home, Estate of the Day

Too often I see houses without enough furniture in them. They are staged for their listing photo shoot or are newer homes. That isn't the case with today's home in Indianapolis it seems very, very well lived in. This four-bedroom home was built in the 1950s and is absolutely stuffed with furniture and wall decorations. Never have over 10,000 square feet seemed quite so crowded. The walls are covered in crucifixes, mirrors and paintings, each window is wreathed in fabric and there are spare tables, overstuffed couches and puffy chairs taking up every conceivable space. The home sits on over seven acres and is listed for $5.5 million. After the jump, worst position for a flatscreen TV ever.
