Hotel's Valentine's Day Package Features Locally-Sourced Cacao

Lots of resorts are featuring chocolate-themed packages for Valentine's Day but the package at the Esencia Estate in Playa del Carmen, Mexico gets you in touch with cacao right at the source.

Cacao was once referred to by the Mayans as the food of the gods. Esencia purchases the cacao seeds directly from the small town of Tizimín a few hours away from the hotel's Playa Xpu-Ha, Mexico location. It is used in Esencia's organic spa for its antioxidant properties. In the hotel's restaurant, Sal y Fuego, cacao is used in signature drinks and favorite dishes and the chef prepares the cacao in the estate's own garden kitchen using an all-natural process with no preservatives or additives.

Pampered Partner Package at Esencia

It's the time of year when the hotels roll out their Valentine packages. If you are headed south of the border you can indulge in the Pampered Partners package at Esencia in Playa Xpu-Ha, Mexico. The seaside Esencia estate's five-night romance package includes two 90-minute "Ritual of Love" treatments, a couples' how-to-massage instruction with a private massage therapist, a private couples' yoga session and five nights in a Garden Suite with its own plunge pool. The Ritual of Love is composed of a 60-minute massage using essence of Ylang Ylang and locally-harvested marine salts with a 30 minute Jacuzzi bath accompanied by a cup of soothing herb tea. Escenia was originally a private home for an Italian duchess and is now a 29-room hotel on 50 acres with gardens, solariums and easy access to a white sand beach. The "Pampered Partners" package rates start at $3,445 for a Garden Suite from now until April 30, 2008.
