Marc Newson's Pricey Outerwear

Designer Marc Newson has been able to sell furniture for over $1 million so its no surprise that is clothing line is pricey. Newson's clothing line with G-Star, a manufacturer in the Netherlands is a basic line of outerwear in basic neutral colors of black, white and gray. The pieces, available at Moss, were produced in a limited edition of 100 signed and numbered pieces. The line shows off Newson's love of rounded shapes, check out the distinctive pockets. The hoodie shown above sells for $2,170.

The $10,000 Diamond Hoodie

We've seen diamond shirts and diamond jackets before but Konquest Clothing took diamond bedazzling to the next ridiculous level with the $10,000 diamond hoodie which features over 4,000 Swarovski crystals and a three-carat diamond zipper pull. The hoodie was shown off at the American Music Awards by singer Colby O'Donis. It's not all just senseless display Konqest says the hoodie was designed to draw attention to the new line and raise funds for building schools in Uganda and that 30% of the profit will be donated to charity. The hoodie will go on display at several stores in Los Angeles which carry the line. The Konquest Clothing line is from the same people behind the $10,000 Key Closet jeans which O'Donis is also wearing in the picture above.

Fur Goes Casual in Fall

Real fur has long been one of the materials of choice for the cool-weather clothes of the well dressed and the well-to-do. Even in the face of protestors, it has retained its elegance and you are guaranteed to see many women in furs out in New York City, for example, in the winter. Juicy Couture is trying to bring fur down a little, judging from the look of their Reversible Fleece Hoodie with Rabbit Fur. The cotton fleece hoodie has a drawstring hood and distressed seams, which contrast with its fur vest lining. Though reversible, even having the soft rabbit fur clearly visible does little for the look. Let's face it: you can't dress up a fleece hoodie no matter how much fur you put into it. The only question is to whether pieces like this one will spark a trend of more casual uses of fur, possibly eliminating a lot of the prestige associated with its use, or not. Price: $650.
