Armani Beats Gates and Abramovich to Buy $190 Million Greek Island

Legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has reportedly become the proud owner of one of the world's most beautiful and expensive private islands – Skorpios (above). In closing the deal, said to be worth about $190 million according to reports in the European press, the designer faced stiff competition from rival bidders including Bill Gates, Roman Abramovich and Madonna. Located in the Ionian Sea off the western coast of Greece, the island formerly belonged to famed Greek shipping billionaire Aristotle Onassis and was the site of his wedding to Jackie Kennedy in 1968. It was sold to Armani by his granddaughter and heiress, Athina Onassis Roussel. There is a lavish villa on the island known as the Pink House which Onassis built for Jackie, along with tennis courts and plush gardens, though most of the island remains undeveloped and pristinely beautiful.

Abramovich's Daughter Named One of Russia's Most Eligible Women with a $3.4 Billion Fortune

Russian business magazine Finans has named oligarch Roman Abramovich's 17-year-old daughter Anna (right) one of Russia's most eligible women, citing her $3.4 billion fortune. Anna, who lives with her mother Irina, the billionaire's second wife, in London, will inherit the cash as part of the oligarch's divorce settlement. Her father threw her a $600,000 Sweet Sixteen party last year.

Anna has four siblings and a half-brother, born this year to Abramovich's gorgeous girlfriend Dasha Zhukova. The Australian reports that Abramovich is displeased at the magazine's coverage of his daughter. Back in May we reported that Anna had been partying hard in London with Will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas at posh nightclub Whisky Mist.

Anna's no Paris Hilton however, nor is she Russia's biggest heiress; she's worth less than Anastasia Potanina, 26, daughter of mining magnate Vladimir Potanin, who's expected to inherit $3.8 billion. Seven young women are included in the list in total, with combined fortunes worth over $17 billion. Of course exact details are a closely guarded secret.

Abramovich's Daughter Paints the Town Red

Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, whose billion-dollar gigayacht Eclipse has garnered him plenty of headlines lately, isn't the only member of the family in the spotlight – his curvaceous 18-year-old daughter Anna's antics in London are making her a bold-face name as well. The UK's Metro reports that Anna (above, right) recently partied the night away with Will.i.am (left) and the Black Eyed Peas at posh London club Whisky Mist, the favored haunt of Princes William and Harry. Despite the gaggle of female admirers surrounding the singer and his bandmates, it was Abramovich's daughter who held sway, Metro reports. Anna's magnanimous side was also on display; spotting some homeless men hanging around outside the club the heiress gave the bouncers £100 to give to the unfortunate fellows. Meanwhile, Marie Claire also spotted Anna partying with Rihanna on another recent occasion. No doubt she's always quick to pick up the tab.

Vanity Fair's Sexy Heirs & Heiresses

The June issue of Vanity Fair takes a look at 38 young, sexy heirs and heiresses around the world and tries to convince us that they're "making privilege count." The story, titled Fortune's Children, notes that "At a moment when the economy is teetering and populism is all the rage, today's gilded youth have got their work cut out for them, and they know it. Whether it's expanding the family business or striking out independently, launching a career in the arts or plunging into philanthropy, the 38 heirs and heiresses to fabled names and consequential fortunes in this portfolio seem determined to make a contribution to society at large while carving out identities of their own." Pictured above are Joséphine and Alexandre De La Baume, the half-Swiss, half-French - and more than likely halfwit but more than halfway attractive - children of Baron and Baronne de La Baume, of investment banking fame.

The World's Hottest Billion-Heiresses

Forbes has just taken a look at the world's most promising billion-heiresses, introducing us to our new favorite filthy rich twins, Kathrine and Cecilie Fredriksen (above). The 25-year-old blonde daughters of Norwegian shipping magnate John Fredriksen, who's worth $4 billion, each have a seat on the board of directors of their father's companies. Kathrine became a board member of oil trading company Arcadia Petroleum earlier this year.

Cecilie has been on the board of Aktiv Kapital since 2006. The twins, based in London, have worked on various parts of their father's oil and shipping empire for several years. Others featured in Forbes' survey of 25 well-heeled hotties include Marta Ortega Perez, daughter of Spain's richest man - featured in our billion-heiresses post from last year (pictures here), Sir Richard Branson's daughter Holly and of course Ivanka Trump. The World's Biggest Billion-Heiresses To Be

Forbes has come up with a new list of the 10 young women most likely to inherit their mega-rich fathers' fortunes - in short, the billion-heiresses of tomorrow. The final list does not merely represent the daughters of the world's richest men, however; for a true accounting, the magazine started with the daughters of the world's 150 richest people, all worth $6.4 billion or more, but then focused only on those with few or no siblings to divide the loot.

They further narrowed the field by disqualifying those with fathers like Bill Gates who have declared their intention to leave their fortunes to charity instead of their children. Also, they did not include those who have already inherited their money, like the world's richest woman, L'Oréal heiress Liliane Bettencourt.

No. 1 on the Forbes list is India's Vanisha Mittal Bhatia, daughter of Lakshmi Mittal, the fourth-richest person in the world with a fortune of $45 billion. The No. 2 and 3 heiresses are also the daughters of Indian tycoons, while No. 4 is Delphine Arnault-Gancia, daughter of LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, the world's 13th-richest man with a fortune of $25.5 billion. And clocking in at No. 7 is championship equestrienne Georgina Bloomberg (above), daughter of New York's billionaire mayor Michael Bloomberg. See the gallery for more.

L'Oréal Heiress is the World's Richest Woman

Liliane Bettencourt (right), daughter of the man who founded cosmetics giant L'Oréal, tops Forbes' just-released list of the richest women in Europe with a fortune of $22.9 billion. That astounding figure also makes her the world's richest woman, the magazine notes. Bettencourt, whose father's reputation has occasionally come under fire, uses her money to fund a charitable foundation which supports medical research, cultural projects and humanitarian relief.

At the No. 2 spot on the Euro list is Swedish citizen Birgit Rausing, a packaging heiress with an estimated fortune of $14 billion, while No. 3 is BMW and pharmaceuticals heiress Susanne Klatten, with $13.2 billion. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling meanwhile is in last place at No. 22, barely making the list with a measly $1 billion. It's worth noting that Germany has the most female billionaires of any European nation, with nine of them living within its borders. You can see a gallery of the loaded ladies here.
