Minnie Feather Pumps

Want a stand out pair of pumps to give your fall wardrobe some extra kick? Pedro Garcia's Minnie Feather Pumps can do just that as they will surely catch eyes and start some conversations. They're either a love 'em or hate 'em sort of design, and I love them. The classic 4 1/2 " high heel pump gets upgraded with a soft, contemporary vibe by being covered from heel to toe in green-toned feathers and featuring a grosgrain ribbon bow on the toe with a faux pearl pin accent. $725

Miu Miu Crystal-Heel Sandals

These Crystal-Heel Sandals by Miu Miu invoke a sort of old-time "gold and riches" type glam thanks to plenty of glitzy over-sized crystals that look as if they've been pressed onto the shoes' heels while they were covered in molten gold. Other than that the shoe is pretty classic in design, featuring shimmery gold metallic leather in a T-strap sandal with an ankle strap that buckles on one side. A lovely summer statement for those who just can't help but want an extra shot of bling. $695

Christian Louboutin's $5,660 Shoe

So I'm feeling a bit deflated because I thought these shoes, from Christian Louboutin, which are sold in UK pounds (£3,975) but at today's USD price (according to OANDA) are $5,660, were pricey. And then I saw this post from my colleague Rigel. I'm willing to bet, however, that for many of us, $5,660 is still a chunk o' change for shoes.

Only 36 pairs of these Marie Antoinette-inspired shoes are being made in each color -- ballerina pink, bright yellow, and blue. That means that only 108 women (unless you buy multiple pairs) will have the opportunity to (try to) walk in these high-heeled creations, which are embroidered by Jean-Francois Lesage, a man behind many a couture gown, and decorated with crystals and ribbons. If you prefer to keep these showpieces safe in their box each night, no worries -- they come with a special box.

Available February 24 at a Louboutin boutique near you.

[Thanks, Lana]

Loubinight Satin Clutch, Handbag of the Day

Although this creation by Christian Louboutin is a handbag, the Loubinight Satin Clutch still manages to channel the high heeled shoes with signature red soles that he's so famous for designing. Bright, vibrant green satin on the outside and rich, 'signature red' satin on the inside, this clutch's most endearing feature is the darling pair of miniature crystal Louboutin heels (you can tell because they have red soles!) that stand on the bag's top and double as the clasp.

If you're one of those who just can't get enough shoes, then this is the perfect way to wear more than just one pair at a time. $960

Cobra Hired To Guard Jeweled Sandals

In today's age of motion and touch sensors and every other kind of high-tech gadget we've got for security of precious goods, Harrods in London recently took a unique step to protect a pair of very expensive shoes: they hired a poisonous cobra to stand (sit? slither?) guard.

Obviously this was a publicity stunt, not a real security effort, but I say good for them. That's pretty clever, and for all intents and purposes it worked. The cobra has since returned to its owner and the shoes are, I'm sure, under a more traditional lock and key type security system.

Curious what kind of shoes warranted such a show? A pair of red sandals by Rene Caovilla that are encrusted with rubies, sapphires, and diamonds and valued at about $120,000.

Pure Gold High Heels

This past weekend a jewelry shop was showcasing a a pair of high heels made of pure gold (up to 680g of it) in Wuhu, Anhui Province. There's very little information available on the shoes, including who designed them (although we do know they're Italian), how much they cost, or if there's more than one pair in existence (and if not, what size is this pair?).

Although they are shiny and unique, I doubt they really expect anybody to wear them any place other than a photo shoot perhaps? I doubt you could even walk in them normally, never mind the fact that the design isn't even that flattering.

Thanks Magie!

Tara Subkoff Easy Spirit Suede Pumps

Even when we first heard that designer Tara Subkoff was teaming up with Easy Spirit to inject some trendiness into a brand long known for putting comfort ahead of everything else, we had our reservations. It sounded promising, but would the shoes stack up to other designer footwear? It appears that they do. These Suede Pumps are as fashion forward as any other pumps in stores this season, with the added bonus that they're still very comfortable. The platform heels are 4 3/4-in. high, including a 1 1/2-in. platform, and are covered in soft suede. They are available in red, grey or black. Price $430.

Prada Leopard Platform Mary Janes

Someone recently told me that leopard print is "ladylike" and never goes out of fashion. While I find that first point to be debatable, leopard print has a certain timeless appeal to it and it is definitely in style for this season. Prada's Leopard Platform Mary Janes are perhaps the ultimate application of leopard, mixing the conservative style of a classic Mary Jane shoe with a wild and slightly naughty animal-print calfskin. Of course, there is nothing conservative about these shoes, since they are stacked on a 4" heel. The shoes also feature gold leather trim and a golden buckle. Price: $695.

Top 10 Women's Shoes for Spring

What are the top trends in women's shoes this season? Think heels that are very, very high. Think wedges that tower. And think pointy heels that are super-aggressive. But the look isn't all tough, with feminine touches like bows, ribbons and polka dots softening the look for spring.

Look for plenty of fierce-looking, "Gladiator"-inspired footwear this spring, including Alexander McQueen's leather strappy sandal. Price: $695.
