The Magnificent Cellar of Russell H. Frye

Russell H. Frye has an enviable problem, too many fabulous wines and not enough time to drink them. Apparently his obsession has shifted from wine to tennis and the two, alas, are not so compatible. Therefore he is putting his collection up for auction at Sotheby's New York on May 20. The collection of 8,500 bottles is estimated at $3.5 to $5 million and contains some of the rarest wines in the world today. Frye fell in love with wine after his first experience with the 1961 Haut Brion. His collection includes a wide range of Latour, Mouton and Haut Brion as well as California beauties such as the Ridge Montebello from 1963 to 1997 and selections from Harlan, Screaming Eagle and Stag's Leap.
