Harry Potter 1st edition sells for $40,000!
When I think of books that are worth a lot of money I would consider texts from Shakespeare's era or earlier. But last Thursday the 1997 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (yes, not Sorcerer's Stone as we all know it) first edition was sold at an auction for $40,000! Being one of only 500 copies and in perfect condition it was apparently a rare find. J.K. Rowling's sensational book series of Harry and his wizard friends at Hogwarts sold over 335 million copies worldwide. Although the seven-book series is now completed, with the final book released this past July, Rowling is working on a few new projects and although she doesn't believe she will have the same amazing success with any other book she could write she may surprise us all again with another wonderful adventure.
