Southern Ocean Lodge

The latest resort planned for Southern Australia is the lavish Southern Ocean Lodge at Hanson Bay on Kangaroo Island. The new resort will also be a model for sustainable tourism with contemporary environmental design, locally sourced food and beverages and a wellness spa. The lodge will have just 21 suites and was created using local limestone, recycled timber and glass. All suites have large sleeping areas, sunken lounges, glass-walled bathrooms, and outdoor terraces with seating and daybeds. The most lavish suite will be the Osprey Pavilion which has a curved floor plan with 180° views of the ocean, beach and wilderness, an open fire area, a private plunge spa, and a sculptured bath and double shower. The resort will also have a restaurant with a walk-in wine cellar and a full spa. The lodge plans to open in March 2008.
