Stephen Dweck Turquoise Jewelry

I love these big chunky jewelry creations by Stephen Dweck, featuring hand-carved turquoise, sterling silver, and a little bit of coral. Jewels are pretty but I'm a little more casual, so even though it's big (it measures 1" x 1 3/4") a statement ring like this would be much easier for me to wear than a diamond or other sparkly gem. The set, if you wanted them all, includes a bracelet and earrings, all carved in a similar floral pattern with sterling silver. $560 - $870

Handcarved Cherry Utensils

The kitchen is a great place to express style and get original without making too much of a commitment in regards to expense or permanence -- you can easily change up the look of things by switching around small details like what utensils you have sitting on the counter or hanging on the wall. These wooden mixing spoons and spatulas by David Hurwitz are handcarved out of cherry and, to me anyway, have both antique and modern contemporary vibes going on. Available in a variety of stains and shapes, this is one of those items where no two will ever look exactly the same. One of these would make a great gift for anybody who loves to cook.

Bugs that Won't Bite: Handcarved Bamboo Insects

I'm not a bug enthusiast by any means, but there's something appealing about these bamboo insects. Maybe it's because they bring back memories from childhood (some good, some bad!), or it could just be that bugs are so inherently "creepy" and it's a rare occasion to get so close to one and see this kind of detail. Individually hand carved from "tiger print" bamboo they're each amazingly lifelike and detailed, and there's even a bamboo cage available if you're worried they might spark to life and fly away. Ranging in size from 2" (the cricket) to 7" (the praying mantis), there are 5 different designs available and prices range from $55-$65 each.
