I love the details on this bag. The bright white leather shopper is dressed up with a wide strip of leather dotted with resin 'stones' held in place by gold-tone grommets. They look like bubbles and make me think of parties and Champagne. The clear vinyl strips around the bag and on the corners don't do much for me, but they mostly disappear anyway. With wide straps and a large zip top, the bag opens to zip, wall and cell phone pockets. It measures 17 ½"W x 15"H x 1"D and has a 10" strap drop. $855.

It is not your imagination - this bag is short. Measuring only 5 inches tall, what it lacks in height it makes up for in style. The over-sized gold-tone metal logo emblem adds a lot of punch, with two smaller versions attached to the two-way top zippers. The body of the leather bag is softly pleated and gathered on each end. Cotton lines the interior, which features zip, wall and cell phone pockets. At 17 inches long and 6 inches deep, it is a nice size for tucking snugly under the arm. $345.

Gustto Large Baca Bag, Handbag of the Day

It's easy to see the inspiration that San Diego-based company Gustto gets from their surroundings in some of their bags. The Large Baca Bag, pictured here in Vintage Brown, has a slouchy look that seems to exude the "California casual" feel that so many things in Southern California have. The tote is roomy, with plenty of pockets and secure closures to keep it practical for daily use, and is accented with oversized rivets and studs in silver-toned metal. The bag measures 18"W x 11"H x 6"D with a drop of about 7" from the double, flat shoulder straps. Price: $704.
