Parker Fly Select Koa Ltd. Edition Guitar

At $10,000, the Parker Fly Select Koa costs a lot more than your average guitar - but then this one is far from average. The beautifully crafted instrument (above) is limited to only 25 signed and numbered pieces, and is handmade by master luthier Ken Parker from a single piece of Koa, a rare, indigenous hardwood native to Hawaii. The wood is golden brown in color with dark streaks and a lustrous sheen, and the fittings are all gold-plated. Koa, used by the ancient Hawaiians to build dugout canoes, is a "tonewood," with recognized and consistent acoustic qualities prized by musicians. Just the thing for that custom-made crocodile guitar case from Hermès you've been eyeing.

Clapton's Custom-Made Herms Crocodile Guitar Case

The other day we told you about Karl Lagerfeld's bespoke trunk from Louis Vuitton which holds the Chanel kingpin's collection of 20 iPods and a speaker system. In the same vein, we now present Eric Clapton's ultra-luxurious, custom-made crocodile guitar case from Hermès (above). Hermès also has a Special Orders workshop which can produce everything from a handbag to a bespoke interior for a Rolls-Royce, and is if anything more exclusive than Vuitton's atelier.

Clapton's case was specially made to hold his Martin 00028 EC acoustic guitar, the rock star's signature model ("EC" are his initials) which he helped to design. The shell of the case, which is covered in the world's finest matte-finish crocodile skin, is handmade of poplar wood from Nazareth, Pennsylvania and the whole is lined in blue silk velvet. While we don't know what Clapton paid for the one-of-a-kind case, it is likely to have cost at least $100,000.

Elvis Presley Limited Edition Guitar

A new limited edition guitar celebrates the one and only Elvis Presley. While Presley is most famous for singing he was also a guitar player. In 1955 he purchased a Martin D-28 acoustic guitar with a tooled-leather cover with his name inscribed in it. The original is now on display at Graceland but Guitar Center has worked with C.F. Martin & Company to create an exact copy of this guitar. The guitar is an exact reproduction of the leather cover and includes a TCB lightning bolt inlay on the heel cap. Elvis' signature is inlaid into the neck at the 12th fret, and a mother-of-pearl silhouette of the King and his Martin modeled after a famous 1956 photograph is set into the headstock. It is a limited edition of 175 sells for $9,199 and is delivered in a special oversized vintage Geib style hardshell case.

Calder Laptop Cases

Very simple in design, Calder laptop cases are understated and classic inside and out. Crafted with full-grain leather made by one of England's oldest tanners, the cases also have a hand-laid carbon fiber shell that's amazingly strong while not being too heavy. A silk velvet lining and suspension system protect your laptop from damage in your travels, and the whole setup reminds very much of an instrument case as opposed to a shoulder or tote bag (which is no surprise considering they make guitar and violin cases as well). Available for £2020 through the Bill Amberg store.

Custom Les Paul Guitar For Lover of Music and Fish

Vintage Les Paul guitars often fetch six figures but if  you are looking for something a little less pricey but still special this could be your new guitar.  Provided of course, that you also like fishing.  Electric Guitar Review clued us in on this Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Special with a hand engraving by Darryl Thornbury. The guitar which is on sale at Musician's Friend for $12,999 has an  anodized black-aluminum pickguard and a hand-engraved with a fish jumping for a lure (the person who commissioned the guitar is also a pro fisherman).

Electric Guitar Cutting Board

The single most boring thing in the kitchen is a cutting board. Usually, it is a piece of plastic that sits near the sink. Recently, I got a bamboo one, which is very beautiful in addition to being sturdy, but it is still plain. I’m thinking about investing in something fancier, something more fun. Something like the Country Toys Electric Guitar Cutting Board, which is unusually stylish for a wooden kitchen accessory. The cutting board is 3/4-inch thick, so it will last for years of use and, if necessary, refinishing. Handmade from gorgeous purple hardwood, this would look great on a kitchen counter and take up a lot less space than a real guitar and in addition to being more wallet-friendly at $60. There is also an Acoustic Guitar version, for you more traditional types.

And here, I thought Jack Osbourne's BMW was the height of rock tackiness.
