The Gravity Powered Bookshelf

Bookends can be cute, and they come in all different shapes and sizes, but what if you never needed them again to keep your books straight and standing up in the bookshelf? The Gravity Powered Bookshelf will do just that trick, no matter if you have 10 books, 2 books, or just a lone floppy magazine on the shelf.

The name makes it sound like it's got moving parts or something, but it's really just an interesting-looking bookcase that uses gravity to its advantage. And although I do like it, I also think it looks a little homemade (like in a college dorm room kinda way).

Weightless Flights Now On Sale At Sharper Image

Just a few years ago weightless flights were a rarity. Now they have become so commonplace that they are being sold through the Sharper Image catalog. Sharper Image now sells the Zero-G weighless flight through Zero Gravity, the first FAA-approved provider of commercial weightless flights. Reservations can be made at a Sharper Image store, through the catalog or online. Since September 2004, the company has provided around 100 weightless flights for more than 2,500 passengers. The flights depart from Las Vegas and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The experience includes a brief training session followed by a 90-minute flight aboard G-Force One, a Boeing 727. The controlled ascent and descent of the plane lets flyers to experience apparent Martian gravity (1/3 Earth's gravity), Lunar gravity (1/6 Earth's gravity), and true weightlessness. The flight costs $3,500.

Gravity Salt and Pepper Mill

The Gravity Salt and Pepper Mill by Trudeau is unique in that it has no buttons. It works simply by flipping the mill upside down - hopefully over a plate of food that you hope to season - and it will turn on automatically, triggered by gravity and powered by 6 AAA batteries. The grinder can handle either large crystal salt or pepper, but it comes already filled with mixed peppercorns. It also comes in green, chrome and red, but the sleek sliver model is the most futuristic-looking, not to mention the least likely to end up with unsightly fingerprints. Price: $26.95.
