Pure Gold High Heels

This past weekend a jewelry shop was showcasing a a pair of high heels made of pure gold (up to 680g of it) in Wuhu, Anhui Province. There's very little information available on the shoes, including who designed them (although we do know they're Italian), how much they cost, or if there's more than one pair in existence (and if not, what size is this pair?).

Although they are shiny and unique, I doubt they really expect anybody to wear them any place other than a photo shoot perhaps? I doubt you could even walk in them normally, never mind the fact that the design isn't even that flattering.

Thanks Magie!

The Golden Collection with Gold Glaze

The Golden Collection is a little too flashy to eat your cereal in or drink your OJ out of in the morning (unless maybe you're Donald Trump?), but might be nice for serving at a party. The collection includes only three pieces: the Hungry Bowl, the large Hungry Bowl, and the Big Thirsty Cup. With a pale matte finish on the outside and shiny bright gold glaze on the inside, the set is made in France and will definitely bring a feeling of warm richness and luxury to a table. Plus, you gotta love the names! Available individually, one of each will set you back a total of $242.

An Unusual Golden Charm

Apparently, this golden charm is one of the most popular cell phone accessories in Japan, with almost 3 million units sold. At this point, you're probably thinking that it looks a lot like something a dog might do on your living room rug. If so, you're right. It looks like golden poop and it is supposed to be a good luck charm.

If we absolutely had to pick one, we'd opt for the version that appears to be filled with gold dust and is slightly more tasteful than the alternatives. Under no circumstances would we want to take the catchers' mitt charms, which represents "catching money", because it would be too easily mistaken as a symbol of cleaning up after the previously-mentioned dog for our comfort.

$1.28M Golden Rocking Horse

For the kid who has it all, Japanese jewelry designer Ginza Tanaka has created a 24-karat gold rocking horse. The toy was designed in honor of the birthday of Japan's Prince Hisahito and weighs about 80-lbs, significantly heavier than the normal wooden rocking horse that it is styled after. The weight does have an advantage in that it allows the chair to rock much more smoothly than other types of horses. Although the jeweler is willing to take orders for more, only one has yet been made and is valued at $1.28 million.

The Golden House

The Golden House is a new tourist attraction in Hong Kong. Apparently, it is modeled after an ancient palace, or perhaps is meant to be a composite of a variety of estates, but the most notable thing about it is that it was built from 2 tons of gold. The structure is gilded from its high ceilings and door frames right down to tableware and toilet seats. It cost about $38 million dollars to construct and is also available to be used for weddings.

Solid Gold Lobster

The most expensive lobster we had seen, up until today, was a $3,700 glass and silver creation. It doesn't seem terribly impressive now that this strikingly realistic solid gold lobster has come to our attention. The crustacean is made from 1.1-lbs of pure gold and is intricately worked down to the last tiny detail. It is about 13" long and 7" tall. Currently on display in a jewelry store in Nagoya Japan, the lobster's asking price is around 5 million yen, or $40,000.

The Gilded Porsche

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Autoblog gave us the heads up on this gilded Porsche, which is on display at Schmuckwelten, a jewelry museum in Pforzheim, Germany. The Porsche Boxter was stripped of all its paint before having it replaced with 24K gold leaf and leaving no surface ungilded, the hubcaps were finished with gold as well. It's not as cool as the diamond-encrusted Mercedes SL that we saw a while back, but if it were offered to us, we wouldn't turn it down.

Golden Pills

Gold is a beautiful thing, so when we think of things that we'd like to do with it, ingesting it is not at the top of our list. Granted, a little bit of gold leaf on a chocolate cake makes a great presentation, but would you really want to eat golden pills? Designer Tobias Wong specializes in turning everyday objects into objects of desire for the man (or woman) "who has absolutely everything" and these pills fit the bill nicely. The little capsules are filled with 24K gold leaf and dipped in gold. While 24K gold is safe to eat, at least in very small quantities, we're not sure that this is such a good idea. Price: $275.
