Luxury Real Estate Up For Government Auction In Florida

A pair of luxury Florida homes will hit the auction block next month at a US Department of the Treasury auction. The auctions on March 1 and 2 each at the property website. The home being auctioned off on March 1,shown at right, is on Marco island near Naples, Florida. It is a four-bedroom home with two kitchens, a pool and spa. The home has taxes of around $13,200 per year and has approximately 3,900 square feet of living space. A $50,000 cashier's check is required to bid.

The second home is a two-story home in Golden Beach, Florida, a luxury enclave that features some very expensive real estate including Ricky Martin's home. The five-bedroom home is located in a secured community along the intracoastal waterway with the Atlantic Ocean just to the east. This home has a media room, attached garages, pool, dock and more. The 2009 taxes were over $65,000 and this large luxury home with over 7,270 square feet of living space requires a $100,000 cashier's check to bid. Ricky Martin In Golden Beach, Estate of the Day

We've been hearing about today's estate in Golden Beach, Florida for a while, since 2007, back before its owner Ricky Martin was the father of twin boys or had come out as a self-acknowledged "fortunate homosexual man." Martin bought the home in April 2007 for $16.5 million and by December of that year it was on the market for $22.5 million. The home didn't sell and eventually appears to have come off the market. Earlier this year I learned that the home was back up for sale with a new lower price.

The main draw of this two-story Mediterranean home is its location in a private oceanfront community. The five-bedroom home has a a beautiful pool and spa that is just a short walk away from a secluded beach. The home's interior is Florida Spanish luxe with a double-height living room that has marble floors, monumental fireplaces and large French doors that open to the outside. The new gourmet kitchen has a brick barrel vaulted celing and tile. The master suite has walk-in closets, terrace and open views. It is now listed at $18.9 million, which still makes it the highest listed Golden Beach house currently.

Golden Beach, Estate of the Day

Golden Beach is a seaside slice of Miami-Dade country that is home to a string of blockbuster homes and a variety of celebs seeking a sunny spot. Today's estate was built in 1977 which makes it positively ancient compared to some of the mansions surrounding it. The home is a five-bedroom palazzo which has been updated. The beamed ceilings appear to be a bit lower than many of the cathedral-ceiling homes that are in the area but it also gives the home a bit of a cozier feel. It has great views of the Atlantic and your walk to the beach couldn't be easier. The downside is that your neighbors are very closer and the pool is a bit small. It is listed at $10.999 million.
