Quinta Splendida Hotel

The Quinta Splendida is part of the newly formed Quintas da Madeira collection, a group of 16 hotels on the island of Madeira off the coast of Portugal. The Quinta Splendida will be opening a new spa in June 2006. The new spa includes a vitality pool and an indoor pool next to an in-door waterfall feature surrounded by orchids. There will be ten treatment rooms including a couple’s massage room and a fitness room, a sauna and an ice fountain in combination with a separate cold water bath and a footbath. Other treatments include a Turkish steam bath and mud bath. The hotel is surrounded by botanical gardens which are home to hundreds of species of tropical flowers and plants. The Quinta Splendida High Package which includes seven nights in a studio sea room, a Madeira wine tasting and garden guided tour goes for 312 euros including daily breakfast.

Taj Exotica Maldives Opens A New Spa

Another resort in the idyllic Maldives is theTaj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives. The ocean resort has opened the Jiva Grande Spa, an authentic Indian spa that includes a Yoga and Meditation Pavilion, a VIP Spa Suite and two over-water luxurious couple spa suites. Signature treatments include spa ceremonies, Ayurveda programs and treatments which use products made from Indian herbs and aromatherapy oils. Other spa features include a hammam, couples showers, sun deck loungers and a plunge pool with a large relaxation deck. The resort itself has earned rave reviews from Trip Advisor and is only 15 minutes by a private luxury speedboat, available 24 hours, from Malé International Airport.

It's still a month away but not to early to make plans for Valentine's Day. BedandBreakfast.com, a website that lists Bed and Breakfast Inns, has come up with a list of undiscovered inns to check out for planning a romantic getaway. The choices vary from the quirky such as the Red Caboose Inn which features rooms made of train cabooses and the traditional such as the Madewood Plantation in Louisiana.
