Someone in West Palm Beach, Florida needs a bit of garage space. You are looking at an Xbox 360 game console which is mounted on a Formula Ford race car which has been painted bright red and embellished with a Ferrari logo. The seller reports that the game works well but the console could be updated and that the opening bid of $3,000 is less than half of what he has invested in it. No bids last time I checked and the auction ends December 2.
In honor of Scrabble's Diamond (60th) Anniversary, Hasbro Inc. has commissioned a one-of-a-kind glass SCRABBLE: Swarovski Encrusted Board Edition featuring more than 30,000 Swarovski crystals. Each of the 30,000 glittering crystals is hand-selected to perfectly match the Diamond Anniversary edition of Scrabble, which will be available soon from all the usual retailers.
As for this sparkling edition, there is just one, and it's selling here on eBay. The auction started yesterday and will close on October 30th. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude's Research Hospital. The winning bidder will also receive a plaque certifying its authenticity signed by Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Green, who dueled in the 2008 Celebrity Doubles SCRABBLE Championship in June.
Some games are just meant to be created in 3-D from the start, and Clue with its many rooms and little murder weapon playing pieces is certainly one of them. The Clue Premier Edition is a luxury board game that is just as fun to play as it is to look at. With each of the 9 rooms designed in sunken 3 dimensional color complete with furnishings, you can look down into the world of secrets and murder and put the clues together one by one to win the game. The only thing missing? Little 3-D people to represent the characters. $150
There aren't many games in the world that are bought by people who not only have no idea how to play them, but who realistically have no intention of ever learning. I know how to play chess, although not very well, but I would love to have a nice set someday if only because they look so regal and elegant as part of a room's decor. This chess set, the Mammoth Ivory Collector Series, is made of 40,000 year old mammoth ivory. I'm surprised that ivory that old and from mammoths can even be used for things like this as opposed to being studied or kept in a museum somewhere! Regardless, it certainly is beautiful. And to think of all the history there is in each piece...amazing. $9,999
Rich gamers want bling too, you know, and they only want to play with the very best of gaming equipment. So both of those statements might be true (I admit I don't really know) but I doubt either of them refers to bling or equipment like this diamond encrusted Sony Playstation controller. Made up of solid 18k white gold and over 68ct in black diamonds it's actually a pendant meant to be worn on a chain.
Yes, because that makes it all better.
No word on how much this little beauty is worth -- the owner claims it was a gift.
I love travel sized games, not just because they're handy on a trip but mostly because the miniature size makes them so adorable. And this travel Dominos set from Hermès is not only adorable, but very classy as well. The individual dominos feature an "H" logo on the back, have rounded corners and edges, and look to be very thin in design (is that a good feature in a domino?). And when you're done playing with, or just admiring, the pieces they all fit nicely into the stylish leather case.
So, do people really play Dominos while traveling, or this just a gimmick? Either way, I kinda want one.
It might say something significant about you, or your mood at least, depending what side you choose to play in this foosball game that takes "lights versus darks" to a whole new level. In Good versus Evil Foosball team players that have never met before get to battle it out for the win, some of the most interesting being (to me anyway) Mary Poppins and Christopher Robin on the good side versus Jack the Ripper and Hitler on the evil side, to name just a few.
I hope Mary and Chris have some tricks up their sleeves (or skirt) because as optimistic as I might be that "good always triumphs" I suspect they're about to get their butts kicked. Apparently when the team was recruiting we were short on tough good guy figures.
Wii Weights might help you lose a few pounds while experimenting with the newest Nintendo system, but WiiFanboy drew our attention to a recent feature in City Magazine that picked out designer outfits for playing sports with the Wii. For tennis enthusiasts, they recommend a Polo Ralph Lauren vest and polo, a Tiffany diamond bangle, P'8419 sunglasses and, if one-piece outfits are more your style, a map dress from Lacoste. The article covers boxing, bowling, baseball and golf. We still like the Ralph Lauren Wimbledon outfits better than these ensembles, but a little sporty inspiration is never a bad thing.
Remember a few months ago when I wrote about that really nice Rubik's cube from Zontik Games? A couple of people asked me where to buy one. Until now, you couldn't. Zontik's website officially launched Monday, just in time for the holiday season. You know what else? I've got a discount for you after the jump.
It is difficult to say whether dominos is a game that is actually out of fashion, or whether it will become fashionable, but whether you play or not, the sets can be used as an accessory to improve the look of a room, even if they are not played with. Think of them as an alternative to one of those decorative chess sets that people buy and rarely use. The John Hardy Domino Set is made of black palm wood, hand-carved in Bali by local craftsmen, and the pieces come in a storage box made from the same material. The dots on each piece are finished with sterling silver, providing an elegant contrast to the handsome wood. Price: $895.
Football fans that can't make it to Germany for the 2006 FiFA World Cup are going to be spending a lot of time in front of the television in the next few weeks. Since you'll probably be trying to make calls from your living room anyway, why not check out this Whistle Chair from Mixko, which can fulfill your need for a seat as well as your desire to play referee. Built on a 1:18 scale of a real referee's whistle and made of stainless steel, the piece is set on its end as a chair, creating a seat with the body of the whistle, but it can also be turned on its side to act as a sculpture, so you can enjoy it even when the games are over.
