Fort Montgomery For Sale On eBay

Lately eBay has been the place for quirky real estate. We've seen Elvis Presley's Memphis house and William S. Burroughs's cabin for sale on eBay, now you can buy your own Civil War fort. Fort Montgomery on an island in Lake Champlain, New York was built in 1844 but did not see action during the Civil War. The fort has never been formally for sale before. The limestone fort is in bad shape, it was mostly demolished in 1935. The island is connected to the mainland by a 700-foot causeway and the auction includes 279 acres on the adjacent mainland. The auction ends on June 5 but there is a buy-it-now price of $9.95 million.
