Styledrops -- Italian Fashion, With Passion

While researching something for Luxist, I came across Styledrops, a fashion site for men, women and children that sells upscale Italian designer goods. For women, select from shoes, handbags, clothing and accessories. Same for men, minus the handbags. Kids get shoes and clothing. The site boasts "the best price you have ever seen on the Internet!"

A sampling of brands: Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Tod's, Hogan, Dior, Fratelli Rossetti, Ferragamo, Cesare Paciotti, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Frankie Morello. Check here for the whole list for women, men and kids. Choose by type of item, designer or price.

I haven't purchased from the site so I can't vouch for service or quality, but the site itself is easy to navigate and has some very high-end items.

Top Fashion Brands Fall Back In Love With Supermodels

After several years of scrambling after hot new faces, a slew of the world's top fashion houses have decided to take a more classic approach for Spring/Summer '08, showcasing supermodels who ruled the Earth in the 1990s in their latest ad campaigns. The top indicator that the supes are back in town is artist Richard Prince's new campaign for the Louis Vuitton bags he designed, starring a gaggle of semi-retired stars: Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova, all sprawled on the hood of a kandy-kolored muscle car.

This season, Schiffer also appears in ads for Salvatore Ferragamo as well as Chanel, along with Christy Turlington, who's now also the face of Escada. Herzigova also stars in the new Roberto Cavalli and Chopard campaigns, while Shalom Harlow meanwhile does the honors for Valentino, Tumi and Jones New York.

Ferragamo Celtico Patent Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day

From the Elenora Collection, this sleek patent bag is all soft angles and gentle folds. Studded with silver-tone hardware, it is relaxed and comfortable looking, but still seems all dressed up. The slim 7" drop handles are neatly threaded through the gathered zip top and the signature leather-covered Gancini accent adorns the front. Inside, the bag is lined in brown cotton and features zip, slide and cell phone pockets. $1250.

Designers: It's Not Just About Clothes Anymore

Who you are is largely communicated by your style, whether you like it or not. Whether you try, or don't try, either way says a great deal. And just what does "style" all include? Many major designers believe it's about more than just clothes and fashion, and are hoping to cash in on some of the other "angles" where their respective brand names can help somebody make a statement. After all, designers are all about style, and style is about a lot more than just fashion.

Specifically designers are branching out into technology and transportation -- and they're doing it in a big way. But then we wouldn't expect anything less from names like Prada and Versace, would we?

State-of-the-art touch screen cell-phones, sports cars, private jets, and even helicopters are just the beginning of this trend. So be on the lookout for more than just clothes bearing designer names and, of course, designer prices.

Salvatore Ferragamo Mink-Trimmed Hobo, Handbag of the Day

Salvatore Ferragamo makes handbags that have a classic appeal with a touch of funk and creativity. Using refined brown & gray wool and accented (not sparingly enough in my opinion) with chocolate colored mink, their Mink Trimmed Hobo may have been created with too much funk and not enough classic. It's bad to say but, it really looks like they stuffed an animal in there and squeezed till the fur came popping through the bag. I normally love the products from Salvatore Ferragamo, but this one just doesn't do it. A saving grace is the shape. I find hobo handbags are great because the shape allows it to hang nicely from your shoulder and have the right amount of droop factor. For a bag this size, I would have preferred the adjustable double shoulder straps to be a bit wider, but I'm just being picky. It features an interior zip pocket, cell phone and Blackberry (isn't that the same thing?) compartment - regardless, you have a lot of space for the big and little things that need to be carried around. Bag dimensions: 12"H x 21 1/2"W x 3 1/2"D. Price: $1,590.

Ferragamo Fiera Large Satchel, Handbag of the Day

Ferragamo's famously bold scarf print is featured on the Fiera Large Satchel. The rich colors - not to mention the exotic animals - will add a jolt to an otherwise dull outfit and the compliments you get on it will certainly liven up your day. How could anyone not notice this tote when walking by? The bag features gold-tone hardware and black leather trim, which is shaped around the bag in a harness fashion, almost as if trying to contain the tiger on the front. Price: $790.
