This is one crazy looking handbag! Featuring three of the most difficult looks to pull off (fringe, zebra print, and rainbow colors) it's the very daring Fringed Zebra Baguette by Fendi. Just looking at it you're sure to have a smile on your face (whether you love it or are laughing at it!), and I suppose with all those colors it's probably pretty versatile when it comes to matching it up with outfits. Features include the multi-colored leather fringe, a removable leather shoulder strap, removable buckles, magnetic closure, and a suede lining. $5,420 Fendi Fringed Zebra Baguette, Handbag of the Day

I'm a sucker for a handbag with a good name, and the fact that this bag by Fendi is called a "spy bag" makes me feel suddenly cool and like it's something Jennifer Garner might have carried in an episode of that old show "Alias." The spy bag has been with Fendi for awhile (see this flowered fall version from 2006) and now it's been updated with textured leather and a bronzed metallic that's a nice neutral other than the usual white, black, or beige. Woven leather handles, flap closure, and a canvas lining with logo print and an interior gold logo plaque. $2,740
Fendi Limited Edition Beaded Baguette, Handbag of the Day

I love beads and beading on almost anything, and in black and white especially it's one of those fashion elements that's in style season after season without fail. The Fendi Beaded Baguette Limited Edition features beautiful beading over the entire bag's exterior, with only the handle and front logo/closure detail being exempt. Open the bag and you get a bright dose of color in the form of a deep ruby red satin lining with an interior zip pocket and the bag's individual limited edition serial number embroidered. $6,670
Styledrops -- Italian Fashion, With Passion
While researching something for Luxist, I came across Styledrops, a fashion site for men, women and children that sells upscale Italian designer goods. For women, select from shoes, handbags, clothing and accessories. Same for men, minus the handbags. Kids get shoes and clothing. The site boasts "the best price you have ever seen on the Internet!"A sampling of brands: Prada, Gucci, Fendi, Tod's, Hogan, Dior, Fratelli Rossetti, Ferragamo, Cesare Paciotti, Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Frankie Morello. Check here for the whole list for women, men and kids. Choose by type of item, designer or price.
I haven't purchased from the site so I can't vouch for service or quality, but the site itself is easy to navigate and has some very high-end items.
LVMH Chief Bullish on Luxury Brands

Bernard Arnault, chairman of luxury goods monolith LVMH, says that despite dire economic predictions and reports of a falloff in parts of the luxury sector the company expects profits to actually improve in 2008. "We are in a position to meet our objectives for a sharp rise in earnings in 2008," Arnault just announced at LVMH's annual shareholders meeting, according to Women's Wear Daily. "Every time we've been [in a difficult economy] we've increased market share. We've started the year strong. We will not pull off [of the accelerator]. We are focused on innovating."
Arnault, whose company recently added Swiss watchmaker Hublot to its portfolio of luxury brands, singled out handbags as a strong earner. "There are tons of new leather goods," he declared. "The Richard Prince bag for Vuitton" - one of our Handbags of the Day -- "has been an immense success and we won't be able to meet demand," Arnault said. "We can't produce the pieces fast enough." He also predicted strong sales this year for Fendi, calling it "one of the most important Italian brands on the market," and Dior as well -- no doubt thanks to Charlize Theron's captivating fragrance ads (above).
Fendi Baby Carrier
Tote your tot in style with this impressive Fendi print baby carrier! Made by Aprica (a high end stroller company), and detailed with black leather plus the signature "F" logo pattern, it's usable four different ways including the convenient piggy back style. I like that it's masculine looking enough to be daddy friendly. Available on eluxury.com, for a pretty reasonable $325, this would make a very nice luxury shower gift!Fendi Design Your Own Baguette
Has it really been ten years since the Fendi baguette? To celebrate the popular slim bag Fendi has released a new version in ten bright Pantone colors. They've also created a kit so you can create your own custom Fendi. The kit contains a bag of coated canvas with a removable belted shoulder strap with buckle attachments, polished gold metal logo-engraved appliqués on each side and an acrylic double-F logo on the front. The bag comes with ten Pantone Universe markers to create your own style on the bag. At $1,300, chose your design carefully, you can't return it once you start your creation.Fendi Forever Tote Bag, Handbag of the Day
The Fendi Forever Tote Bag has what I would consider to be the ultimate standard purse silhouette, but that doesn't mean it's boring. The materials and details make it a crisp classic bag perfect for everyday. Made of leather (patent leather for the white version and grained leather for the black) with a subtle double-F pattern featured on the body of the bag and also on the front metal accessory. In addition to the interior zip pocket found on most bags this one also has 3 separate interior compartments. Magnetic closure, flat woven base, $1210. Fendi Logo Wallet, Handbag of the Day

The Fendi logo wallet is the must have organizational purse/wallet. It looks sleek and eliminates fumbling for that evasive ATM card. The inside is lined with soft leather and has compartments for each credit card, plus zip pockets for change and a separate bill compartment. The long gold chain allows you to carry it as a purse, so convenient. The best part is the color range, the Fendi logo wallet is available in black, white, fuchsia, bright yellow, sky blue, lime green, red and more! It's hard to pick just one. The entire collection is available online. Retail, $580.
Fendi Multicolored Doctor B Bag, Handbag of the Day
Another great shot of spring handbag cheeriness without going the obvious route of a floral print: the Fendi Multicolored Doctor B Bag. Available in two blended rainbow color schemes (this yellow/gray/seafoam one is my personal favorite) it features a soft pleated shape in smooth grained leather with brushed gold metal hardware, a double-layered shoulder strap with adjustable drop, side buckles that adjust the bag's capacity, an interior pocket, and a frame top with magnetic closure. 16" x 10.5" x 6.5", $1840. Fendi Python Hobo Bag is Uber-Sexy

Goodness this bag is luscious, unlike the feelings of the Bag Snob who didn't like this one at all, I think the gold-toned bag is beautiful. Python meets slouchy with a big buckle. Available at Bergdorf Goodman for $3,520, it has a zip top, handles with chain insets, and brass hardware. You can choose the violet or natural python look, but I'm partial to the natural -- I think the violet is a bit Easter-esque. The natural hobo with its mix of creamy and gold tones would be an amazing addition to any outfit.
Fendi's Peacock Evening "To You" Bag, Handbag of the Day

Goodness...what happened to this poor bird? Peacock meets metallic leather equals fashion faux pas. Although this creation comes from Fendi I am not sure it was their best effort. Convertible from larger handbag to clutch, their innovation stops there. And for $1,680 I am hopeful there are better options out there. Now, if you were attending a masquerade ball as a swan and needed a complimentary bag, this might be it. Otherwise, leave it on the shelf.
Does the "Made In Italy" Label Have Intrinsic Value?
The rising euro and the falling dollar have had a wide variety of effects in the world of luxury goods. For the holiday shopping season, Europeans headed to the U.S. to take advantage of the lower prices. An AP article brings up the fact that the prized "Made in Italy" label on luxury goods may cost us even more in the coming year. Italian brands such as Gucci, Armani, Fendi and Versace are finding that it is becoming more expensive to produce goods in their native land. In the article Diego Della Valle, founder of Tods leather goods, says that those who produce in Italy are at a disadvantage because it will cost them more to produce the same goods. Currently, most designers are absorbing the increased production costs, especially since consumers in the U.S. seem to be cutting back on their consumption of many luxury goods. The question for the long run is whether or not consumers will be willing to pay more for something that is made in certain place. Currently makers of goods created in both the U.S. and Europe are at a disadvantage compared to those who produce their items in China and other places where costs are lower. But the recent recalls of toys and other products made in China has made some consumers more aware. For the last few years, the designer name has been enough of a reassurance of quality for consumers no matter where the products is made. I think, however, that we are at the start of a trend where all consumers and particularly those at the higher end of the spending spectrum will be paying more attention to where products are produced. If not, that "made in Italy" label might end up becoming a bit of a rarity as costs force designers to chose economy over tradition.
Fendi Ricami Embroidered Baguette, Handbag of the Day

While I do like the combination of pink and black, this pattern makes me a little dizzy. There is so much to look at with this bold little bag - sleek silver-tone hardware, silver-threaded embroidery, beads, patent and metallic leather, and a little bit of neutral peeking out among the cutouts. Lined in satin, this bag is also available in an even busier-looking black, red and white version. Measuring 10½" wide by 6" tall by 1½" deep, it has a 5½" drop strap and sells for $2752.
Fendi To You Embellished Convertible Bag, Handbag of the Day

While I totally love the embellished fabric and the convertible-ness of this bag, I am not sure about the fold-over logo plate. It looks great when worn as a clutch, but a little awkward sticking up like this. The zip top runs right through the tan and brown striped logo plate, which spells out Fendi in tonal python trim and is topped off with a simple strap. The wine-colored fabric is dotted with paillettes, or sequins, and lined in cotton with an interior zip pocket. Do you love it? $5040.
