Embossed Faux-Leather Saddle Bag, Handbag of the Day

Stella McCartney Saddle Bag
Good for Stella McCartney for going faux on this Embossed Faux-Leather Saddle Bag. It still looks luxe but is a little greener and more humane than its leather counterparts. This earth-toned casual beauty is made of dark green embossed faux-leather with a detachable olive green patent leather shoulder strap. The two fold-over flap fronts open independently of each other and close via press stud fastenings, there's a small logo-bearing disc attached to the shoulder strap, and the interior is lined in embossed satin and has one zip pocket. $1,045

House of Dog Cruelty-Free Pet Products
Love your dog but are distressed over all the leather products made for him or her? Then take a gander at House of Dog, which offers only 100% cruelty-free pet products made from fine faux materials. Products from all the main dog categories are available: collars, leashes, apparel, beds, carriers, toys, bowls, and even wedding sets, which I presume are special items so your dog can participate in a wedding (while collar, white leash, white carrier). House of Dog's signature creations feature a Luxist favorite -- handset Czech crystals. Click on each category to see the offerings, and take a look at the gallery for a selection of some of the products and the price ranges. The Signature Paw Bag shown, for example, is $320, and comes in seven colors. (Celebs love House of Dog; go here to see.)

Faux Ferraris?

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

I've seen plenty of Italian fakes in the form of Gucci and Prada knock-offs sold on the streets but this is the first I've heard of a faux Ferrari. Italian police have busted a ring of mechanics who have been building fake Ferraris. Like some of the people who buy fake purses, most of the purchasers of these cars knew they weren't purchasing real Ferraris. The flashy fakes were made from a combination of body parts from other types of automobiles along with a few genuine Ferrari parts strung together to form sham versions of Ferrari classics. Some of them sold for around $30,000 which is about a tenth of what you'd spend for the real deal.

Can You Spot the Knock-off?

How well do you think you know designer handbags? We've all seen obviously bad knock-offs, but imitators are getting better and better every day and the good ones are making products that are all but impossible to tell from the originals sometimes. Here's a fun quiz from Portfolio.com that puts your fashion sense to the ultimate test of side-by-side comparisons of brand name goods. Handbags, jeans, and even designer ball caps are included -- take the quiz and let us know how you do. I got a better score than I expected, but I think it was mostly luck!

Faux Fox Stole

Colder weather means that it's time for some cold weather accessories, and nothing keeps you warmer than a snuggly scarf - or better yet, an elegant stole. Rather than use real fur, you can get a knit Fox Stole from Anthropologie. This patchwork fox is made of tartan wool with a fluffy wool tail. It will keep you warm on a cold day and will definitely keep any anti-fur friends happy. As an added bonus, it's much cuter than wearing a real dead animal around your neck. Price: $148.
