Kate Moss Parties the Night Away at the Ritz in Paris

She may be moving into an elegant new $12 million mansion in London, but that doesn't mean hard-partying supermodel Kate Moss plans to settle down. While in Paris the other day to attend a fashion show Moss went on an all-night bender at the chic Ritz hotel, the London Mirror reports, forcing management to shut down the fun in the wee hours. The hijinks began after Moss attended the raucous and racy Etam lingerie show, where her boyfriend Jamie Hince's band The Kills played a live show.

At the Etam afterparty she and Hince were spotted swigging Cristal champagne from the bottle, the paper reports. The she and some pals continued on to the posh Ritz in the Place Vendôme, where they took over the bar. Musician Mark Ronson played the piano while R&B star Janelle Monae sang; Moss climbed atop the piano and performed a seductive dance until the hotel's management finally asked them to leave at 4:30 a.m. after complaints of rowdiness. Moss and Hince then repaired to their lavish $5,700-per-night suite upstairs for a nightcap.

Sexy Swimsuits Galore at Miami Fashion Week [video]

Filed under: Apparel, Celebrity Shopping, Celebrity Design, Video

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week just wrapped up in Miami, showcasing the hottest swimsuit looks for next summer. As New York Magazine notes, the annual spectacle "features more bronzer and boobage than every other fashion week combined", and this year's event was no exception, with designs from Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian's Beach Bunny Swimwear line among other looks both louche and luxe. Tattoo maven Ed Hardy showed a surprisingly wearable collection, while celeb attendance at the shows and parties was a bit sub-par – OK, seriously sub-par – with, in addition to the Kardashians, rapper/actor Bow Wow and Angela Simmons of MTV reality fame, N'Sync singer and Dancing with the Stars contestant Lance Bass, Peregrine from Bravo's Work of Art, Lipstick Jungle's Lindsay Price and the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The real action was on the runway in any case – check out the video for footage of the Beach Bunny show.

Louis Vuitton Men's Bags for Spring / Summer 2011

For Louis Vuitton the women's offerings have always eclipsed the men's, but judging by the famed French fashion house's latest runway show in Paris stylish gentlemen will have something to celebrate come next spring. At the presentation Vuitton unveiled a stunning selection of men's bags evoking the image of a debonair global traveler. With a subdued color palette of gray, brown and green, the collection had an appealing classicism and understated elegance betokening considerable expense. In yet another evolution of Vuitton's iconic monogram pattern, some bags sported larger-scale and faded versions in a washed denim fabric with leather straps and detailing. Other bags featured chinoiserie designs by tattoo artist Scott Campbell, the latest Vuitton collaborator, and enlarged archival Louis Vuitton logos. See the gallery for pix.

EXCLUSIVE: Aspen Fashion Week Founder Lisa Johnson's Ten Essential Luxuries

The innovator behind Aspen Fashion Week, Lisa Johnson had a hunch that a fashion event combining the chic of skiing, winter and resort with the high energy appeal of Aspen would be a huge hit. As the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, managing the destination marketing funds on behalf of the City of Aspen, Lisa worked with major events and productions like ESPN Winter X Games, HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and Luxury Spa Finder's Aspen Spa Day. Also as part of her six year tenure with the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, Lisa managed the media relations efforts and served as a de facto film commissioner assisting on film, television and commercial productions of all sizes.

"Aspen is the most recognizable mountain town and the undeniable center of the winter lifestyle," Johnson, pictured above, center, with Lauren Bush and Ellen Gustafson from FEED, tells Luxist. "Most of the major fashion and luxury brands have boutiques here because it caters to a very high-end consumer and has some of the most influential buyers in winter and ski. I strongly felt that Aspen could support a fashion event in which designers and outerwear / ski brands could show collections in a fun, relaxed, high energy format to a consumer with the ability to walk into the stores to buy. And having Aspen Mountain as a backdrop is never a bad setting!" In the gallery are images of Johnson's essential luxuries, from skis to wine to books and bags, along with quotes about what makes them a must.

United Bamboo Fall 2010

Every season designers strive to relive a decade on the runways, with varying levels of success. When it works, it can spark a whole year of fashion, and when it doesn't, the designer is nailed. We're thankful for United Bamboo, design team Miho Aoki and Thuy Pham, who drew inspiration from the 1930s this season for their Fall collection, and evolved the signature decade into something entirely their own. Their incredibly gorgeous and cohesive fashion consists of dresses, coats and pants that literally can be worn every day of the week.

We started backstage where Shiseido artists furiously coiled individual locks of hair on models, set, and unfurled to reveal a sprouting coif, which matched with dark lipstick provided the perfect complement of mess and glamour to the flawless clothes.

United Bamboo created an amazing wardrobe in homage to the 1930s liberated woman, according to the designer's statement, "the kind of sophisticated wildcat Clark Gable chased all across Asia, and who wasn't affected by the Great Depression because she never got depressed." They drew from the styles of Amelia Earhart to Norma Shearer, a tan oversized cardigan, a flight jacket, long hemlined skirts and a Technicolor dress. Using menswear fabrics they created a variety of structured pants meant for a woman who means business.

Backstage Dior, An Eye-Popping All-Access Pass

Renowned photographer Roxanne Lowit has been chronicling the fashion scene for the past 30 years; early on she staked out the backstage areas at fashion shows, where the really interesting action takes place, as her prime hunting ground for capturing the most beautiful people in their natural habitat. Now Lowit, whose work has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum and others, has an incredible new book just published by teNeues, focusing on brilliant, flamboyant Dior deigner John Galliano's couture concoctions which she chronicled for over a decade. Backstage Dior, with a foreword by Galliano, mixes black-and-white and color images, candids and close-ups, delving into the fascinating details behind the scenes. The book is a must for any devotée of fashion, spectacle, photography, or all three.

Glamour Back in Fashion at Miami Swimsuit Shows

At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami designers just showed the latest looks in swimwear for Spring 2010. "Old glamour is back in a big way" declared the Miami Herald of the numerous collections on display at the chic Raleigh Hotel in South Beach. Check out the video above for some highlights - you'll enjoy it even if you can't wear any of the suits yourself. Other trends of note to emerge from the round of eye-popping events, according to the Herald: hot pink is in, ditto transparent material; as for shape it was "all about the bandeau and the monokini (attached bikini) or cutout one-pieces," while high-waisted and ruffled looks made a splash as well. Many of the suits were "sexy in a feminine way - not overtly flashing a lot of skin." Oh well.

Lagerfeld Debuts Mink-Covered iPod Helmets

Filed under: Apparel, Gadgets, Luxury Cars & Autos

At his Paris fashion show on Sunday, the ever-entertaining Karl Lagerfeld debuted a new line of luxurious mink-covered scooter helmets with built-in iPod capability. The over-the-top accessories were created in collaboration with French luxury helmet maker Les Ateliers Ruby and Apple. They're road legal and feature full carbon fiber shells and ultra-soft burgundy nappa lambskin linings. The iPod hookup lets you pipe music directly to the earpieces.

Lagerfeld, who also heads up Chanel and Fendi, showed matching mink vests and other garments in the futuristic fashion show for his eponymous label. Apparently the haute helmets are Lagerfeld's comment on the recessed economy. "Now everyone is on scooters, even chic women, so we had to do the helmet," he explained. No word yet on when the helmets might be made available for sale or what their price would be, but safe to say they'll be extremely expensive.

At the recent New York Fashion Week, Anderson appeared on the runway in a gold swimsuit for avant-garde label Richie Rich.

Westwood, who's credited with bringing punk and New Wave fashions into the mainstream, formed an early alliance with Malcolm McLaren and the Sex Pistols. She often incorporates the Union Jack into her designs.

Just Cavalli Fashion Show Canceled

roberto cavalliThe economy just might be getting to Roberto Cavalli. He convened a press conference in Milan, Italy to cancel the show for his secondary line Just Cavalli, a press conference that the Guardian referred to as a temper tantrum. The Just Cavalli line is controlled by IT Holdings, a company which sought bankruptcy protection from its creditors Thursday.

Roberto Cavalli expressed his displeasure at not being able to have the show. He seemed very frustrated by the fact that the company was making 240 million euros in annual turnover over a year ago but was now in trouble. He stated that he felt very emotionally attached to the line. IT Holding owns several other Italian labels including Gianfranco Ferré, C'N'C Costume National and Versace Sport. Just Cavalli was a sexier line aimed at younger women and featured Kate Moss in one of its advertising campaigns. The main line Roberto Cavalli will show at the end of the week. Check out the designs from the last Just Cavalli show in the gallery below.

American Express "By Invitation Only" at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2008

Filed under: Apparel, Services, Celebrity Shopping

A few days ago I had the privilege of being a guest of American Express at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2008 in NYC. Aside from agonizing over what to wear (and realizing that of course no one was looking at me), it was a fun experience, and one I'd likely never get to have without this invite. As an AmEx guest, I got to go to a special "Skybox" to view the DKNY Spring 2009 show along with about 20 AmEx Platinum Card members, who were there (at the cool price of $700 each) to enjoy the day's events and luxuriate in special amenities as part of AmEx's "By Invitation Only" program. Also on hand were staffers from various companies associated with AmEx, who made sure the guests were comfortable and enjoying themselves. I chatted with one guest, who took advantage of the complimentary hair and makeup services that morning. She did have excellent hair. The room was too dim for me to see her makeup, but I'm sure it was lovely.

AmEx, a major Fashion Week sponsor for the second consecutive year, has long associated itself with fashion icons. On display in the tent's main lobby, front and center, was an AmEx booth that featured three iconic photos, used as part of AmEx's "I'm a Card Member" ads: Sammy Davis Jr., Diane Von Furstenburg and Venus Williams. Word is the photos changed throughout the show. Other sponsors also had booths in the main lobby, from the usual suspects, such as Judith Ripka and the Italian Trade Commission, to unexpected companies, such as Office Max and M&M's.

Birthday Parties for Mini Haute-Couturiers

Filed under: Events, Holiday Guides, Preferred

Why wait for sweet-sixteen to give your little girl an enviable birthday to remember? What better a gift for your mini-Manhattanite and aspiring Muiccia, than the "Fashion Design Party" offered by luxury NYC toy store, FAO Schwarz. On the day of the party, your daughter and nine of her dearest will work with real fashion designers in the private party room at FAO's flagship store on 5th Avenue, to create their own original apparel and handbag designs which will later be professionally manufactured. Just when the buzz dies down at school about how chic and exclusive the party was, eight weeks later, they return to the store for a fashion show and apres ice-cream party. The young designers work the runway as models for their original creations, for a packed house of fifty guests. This is sure to generate enough personal PR at school to keep her in the upper echelons for good. (Or at least until high school!) With a price tag starting from $25,000.00, call me extravagant, but I think it might be worth it considering the going rate for that priceless look upon her face of sheer parental adoration!
