Chrissie Hynde's New Clothing Line
Rock legend Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders is the latest celebrity with a clothing line. The line is a collaboration with songwriter JP Jones. Hynde met the Welsh singer several years ago and her collaboration with him has resulted in a new brand, JP, Chrissie & the Fairground Boys, a new album and an eco-friendly fashion line. WWD tells the story of the relationship between Hynde and Jones which seem to be part romance, part mentorship. The album is about two people who can't be together for various reasons and tracks address the relationship between Hynde and Jones who were involved but have a 25 year age difference. The clothing line, Fairground Luck, was named in honor of Jones' childhood as the son of a carnival arcade owner. Hynde is a vegetarian and a PETA activist so you won't see any leather in this rock-inspired line which will include T-shirts, skinny jeans, jackets, handbags and cowboy boots. Hynde's muse was her friend, musician Emmylou Harris. WWD reports that Hynde has also spoken with designers Todd Oldham and John Bartlett and she is also friends with Stella McCartney, whose own designs are eco-friendly as well.
