Swarovski-Studded Golden Bicycle

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

golden bicycle
Aurumania has a mission to turn ordinary objects into sparkling, golden collectibles, and this Swarovski-studded gold-plated bicycle is a perfect example of that mission. Each Crystal Edition Gold Bike (available in a limited edition of only 10) is hand built and features "every visible surface" plated in 24 carat gold and more than 600 Swarovski crystals accenting the frame. I wouldn't think it's intended for real use on the street (they also sell a gold-plated bike rack for display, if you're interested) but they do offer a 10 year "no questions asked" guarantee so maybe it is. Can't imagine chaining it a bike rack on the curb though. €80,000

Charles Schneider Art Glass At Valerio Antiques

charles schneider poisson vase
The Art Deco period produced some of the most beautiful works of art in glass, pieces that have a deft mix of playfulness and craftsmanship. Valerio Antiques in Coral Gables, Florida has a selection of many fine glass artists but their Charles Schneider Gallery is a treasure trove of delicate beauty displaying the glassmaker's work from when he first began in 1913 through to the height of his career in late 1920s. Schneider's works feature bright colors and intriguing shapes in forms both natural and abstract. The piece shown above is the 1927 Poissons Grand Vase. The clear bubbled glass vase with an acid-etched pattern of fish swimming among reeds has powder inclusions in blue overlaid in orange tango to green for a unique multi-dimensional effect. It is from the Le Verre Francais line and is the largest piece Valerio Antiques has seen in the 25+ years they've been in business and it has yet to be illustrated in any of the Charles Schneider books. These highly collectible antiques can be expensive, prices at Valerio start around $2,900 and the Poissons vase is $79,000.

Daniel K stackable rings
Last year, jeweler Daniel Koren launched his Prêt?à?Porter Collection with black and white diamonds and colorful stackable bangles. Now he's continuing his quest for color with a line of brilliantly colored rings that can be worn singly or stacked. The rings and bangles feature pave diamonds and gemstones such as tsavorites, rubies and many colors of sapphires set in 18K white, rose and yellow gold depending on which colors of stones are used. The new pieces range in price from $2,850- $10,050 for the stacking bands and $7,200 - $23,600 for the bangles.

'Out of the Blue' Art Glass Hardware

My favorite kind of doorknob has always been those old fashioned glass knobs found in old homes, but those are all the same unlike these from Out of the Blue Design Studio, which are not only decorative accents but individual little works of art. Created for everything from doorknobs to cabinet pulls to shower door handles, there's a style and color combination to fit every personality. Many of the designs are whimsical and full of color, but there are also options for those who prefer a sleeker, more modern look if that's what you prefer. Certainly not something you'll want all over the house, but an accent knob here or there could really be fun.

1st Pagani Zonda Cinque for Sale at $2 Million

Filed under: Luxury Cars & Autos

Zonda cinque
An eye-popping Pagani Zonda Cinque supercar, the first of only five ("cinque" = five) being built for collectors worldwide, is for sale in Germany via global luxury marketplace JamesList with a price of €1,600,000, or about $2 million. The limited edition run of the ultra-rare exotic, which will be on display at next month's Geneva Motor Show, was already sold out by the time it was officially announced some months back. The car, with a bespoke titanium and carbon fiber chassis, has 678 horsepower and 575 lb. ft. of torque taking it from 0 - 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Pagani, founded by former Lamborghini designer Horatio Pagani, recently announced the final series of the Zonda, the Zonda R, but with 15 models for sale and a lower price it's arguably less exclusive than the Cinque.

Bailey Doesn't Bark 23K Gold Ceramics

Nice ceramic dinnerware doesn't have to be stuffy or fancy, like these artistic and slightly funky designs from Bailey Doesn't Bark. The above shown cup set (and minis set) is designed by artist Re Jin Lee and includes 4 porcelain cups each hand decorated with a 23K gold tree in a different stage of the four seasons. And I'm always a sucker for details so I also love how each cup has the season written inside the rim in a charming script-like font.

The 23K gold cup sets sell for $107 and there's a non-gold black version that's only $93 and just as charming. Plus check out some of Bailey Doesn't Bark's other fun creations -- like this teabag teaspoon cup and saucer set.

Van Cleef & Arpels Les Jardins Collection Watches

Filed under: Jewelry, Timepieces / Watches

van cleef and arpels jardin watches
These watches are beautiful, and celebrate the love of gardens all over the world. The Van Cleef & Arpels Les Jardins watch collection starts with their manufacture made "quantièmes de saisons" movement that they released in 2006. The movement is unique in that is utilizes a disc plate as the back of the face that makes a full turn each 365 days. Meaning that the watch looks a little bit different each day of the year. Painted on enamel, are four garden varieties placed on the rotating discs. First is the Jardin romantique Anglais (for English gardens), the Jardin Italien (Italian gardens), Jardin à la Française (French gardens), and finally the Jardin d'Extrême-Orient (Oriental gardens). If you look closely at the colorful images you should be able to identify which is each. In front of the enamel discs are white toned cut-out frames that help enhance the daily imagery changes.

The watches are limited to 100 pieces each and constructed in 18k white gold. Mother of pearl lines the mechanical movement, while a diamonds stud the bezel and crown. The watch strap is white alligator. These watches are pure art pieces, and a testament to the ingenuity and creativity that French Van Cleef & Arpels is known for. For the lucky few, the bright imagery on these watches may help ease the melancholy colors of these difficult-for-luxury good times.

Vegas has New Eyecandy to Display and Drink

Filed under: Gadgets, Luxury Travel & Hotels, Spirits

If you're planning a trip to Sin City a night out at Eyecandy in Mandalay Bay is a must. The geeky and modern tech driven types are sure to drool over this cocktail lounge's interactive touch tables, lighted dance floor and sound stations. But certainly the drink and dance inclined will not be disappointed in this personalized, "bring your own iPod and change the color schemes" experience. Drink prices seem pretty normal ($6 to $10) but the hourly rate of $200 may be more than many can handle -- I'm thinking I would gamble on Blackjack before a big night out to win the money for Eyecandy enjoyment. Twenty-one!!
