Epic Thanks: Sharing Gratitude And Working For Change
Filed under: Charity
Tomorrow many will gather with friends and family to give thanks but Tweetsgiving takes the celebration online for a good cause. Epic Thanks is a an offshoot of the original Tweetsgiving celebration which was founded in 2008. It was started by Epic Change, a group that has focused on building a primary school in Arusha, Tanzania run by local changemaker Mama Lucy Kamptoni. What started as a small school now serves over 400 children and has become one of the top primary schools in their country. The Epic Thanks website is about the transformative power of thankfulness. For the last day or so people have been creating personalized thank you cards that can then be posted on Facebook or Twitter as well as the Epic Thanks website, sharing your feelings with the world. You can also donate to three great changemakers: Mama Lucy; Subhash Ghimire in Nepal, who is working on building the first peace school in Nepal for children affected by war; and Mike Halley, a retired US Marine who founded Halley's K-9s for Veterans, an organization to provide service dogs to disabled veterans of all ages.
